How Cannabis Legalization Shapes Cancer Survivorship Care in Canada

Cannabis Does Not fully Cure Cancer but it certainly helps People Recover and return to a Happier and Healthier LIFE.

How Canadian Cancer Patients ANONYMOUSLY Can access Cannabis for Cancer.

• In October 2018 Canada legalized non-medical cannabis increasing nationwide access outside the formal medical system

• Many people living with or beyond cancer now obtain cannabis through non-medical channels rather than through physicians

✔️ What the Study Did

• Surveyed 1,089 Canadians using a discrete choice experiment

• Participants evaluated cannabis use based on symptom relief daily functioning side effects access social opinion doctor opinion and cost

• Most respondents had no cancer history while over one third had prior cannabis experience

✔️ What Matters Most

• Effective relief of cancer-related symptoms ranked highest

• Ability to maintain everyday activities closely followed

• Unwanted side effects reduced willingness to use cannabis

• Social and physician opinions were less influential than quality of life

✔️ Stigma Persists Despite Legalization

• Even under full legalization many individuals with cancer feel fear shame or discomfort using cannabis

• Decades of stigma continue to influence patient behavior despite evidence supporting safety and efficacy

• Non-medical access allows some patients to manage symptoms privately and anonymously

• This autonomy helps avoid judgment discrimination or unwanted disclosure

✔️ Why This Matters

• Legal status alone does not eliminate stigma

• Patients prioritize dignity symptom control and independence

• Policies must reflect real-world behavior and support equitable stigma-free access

✔️ Bottom Line

• Cannabis improves quality of life for many cancer survivors

• Persistent stigma still drives patients toward anonymous access

• Evidence supports updating care models to align with patient needs and lived experience

All wars leave deep lasting scars even after peace prevails.

Unfortunately, we are still at War on Drugs with continued harms inflicted on the most vulnerable, and creating man many made problems.

This failed expensive global project to change human rights and nature is wrong and needs immediate intervention.

Cannabis Compounds Kill Deadly Fungal Infections Better Than Current Drugs—Scientists Are Shocked
Scientists say it may be the key to beating deadly fungal infections.
Two compounds found in cannabis—cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabidivarin (CBDV)—have demonstrated potent antifungal properties in a breakthrough study from Macquarie University.
Researchers discovered that these non-psychoactive and mildly psychoactive compounds effectively killed Cryptococcus neoformans, a lethal fungus responsible for life-threatening meningitis. In lab tests, CBD and CBDV acted even faster than standard antifungal medications, disrupting fungal membranes and metabolic pathways.
The compounds also eliminated common skin fungi, such as those that cause athlete's foot and jock itch.
To explore real-world potential, scientists used moth larvae with immune systems similar to mammals. When infected larvae were treated topically with CBD, their survival rate nearly matched that of uninfected controls—outperforming current gold-standard antifungal treatments.
While more research is needed before human use, especially for internal infections, the study paves the way for CBD-based topicals to combat skin fungal infections.
With drug resistance on the rise and fungal infections becoming increasingly difficult to treat, cannabis compounds could offer a timely and natural new defense. Current antifungal drugs are losing effectiveness as fungi evolve resistance, making the search for alternative treatments urgent.
This discovery reveals yet another medical application hidden inside the cannabis plant—one that could save lives as drug-resistant infections spread globally.

A new New England Journal of Medicine case report describes an extraordinary and previously undocumented phenomenon in which malignant cells found in a human patient originated from a parasitic tapeworm rather than from the host’s own tissues. The patient, a severely immunocompromised man with HIV infection, presented with invasive tumors in the lungs and lymph nodes composed of small, undifferentiated cells. Although the lesions exhibited classic features of cancer, their unusual morphology prompted further investigation, which revealed that the cells were nonhuman in origin.

Using molecular and genomic analyses, the investigators identified DNA from Hymenolepis nana, a dwarf tapeworm, within the tumor cells and demonstrated genetic alterations consistent with malignant transformation. These findings indicate that tapeworm cells had undergone neoplastic change and subsequently invaded human tissues, representing a novel disease mechanism that bridges infection and cancer. This case challenges traditional concepts of oncogenesis and underscores the complex interactions between pathogens, host immunity, and malignant disease.
