APPOINTMENT INFORMATION:

The BodySonic is a very comprehensive biofeedback device which can detect a person’s internal bodily functions and improve their health by using electromagnetic signals from their own bodies. Therapists can then use it to gauge and direct the progress of treatment. (see Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biofeedback).
The device can assist to identify stress areas, muscle pain, pathogens - parasites, funguses, bacterial and viral infections, heavy metal toxicity, health of all the organs, such cardiovascular health, gastrointestinal, liver, lung and kidney function, brain response, bone density, blood sugar, cholesterol and body fat, hormone imbalances and immune function as well as nutritional deficiencies and food intolerances.
This screening can either be run face to face at our premises or remotely from anywhere, by using a DNA sample of hair or nail clippings (which are sent to us via DHL as a document taking 1-5 days).
Our treatment is geared towards detoxing, eradicating pathogens, correcting the natural balance of good flora and immune function, using natural medicines, as well as correcting any nutrient deficiencies. This will usually also incorporate dietary changes and lifestyle adjustments where necessary. Treatments for certain ailments, such as difficult to eradicate viruses, parasites and MRI bacterial infections, digestive and autoimmune issues can also be treated on the Bioresonance or Rife machine to enhance performance.
The cost of an initial consultation for both is R950, which can take up to one and a half hours. If further consultations are needed the charge is R495 up to 30 minutes, or R750 for 30-60 minutes. A quick test for levels of vitamins, minerals and amino acids is R450 for 0-20 mins. Please contact us for quotes in Pounds Euros or Dollars for remote testing overseas.
Cost of the Rife treatments if needed (on-site) is R175 per session for about one hour (time dependent on type of treatment programme). 1-10 treatments may be needed, depending on severity.

Herbs and Immune Response
Updated: Jun 25, 2020

Herbs and Immune response
In times of infectious challenges and maverick viruses, there is no better time than to turn to the proven and trusted herbal remedies used over thousands of years. These remedies were used long before today’s modern medicine. There is even a well-known formula called Thieves Oil, which was believed to keep the thieves safe whilst they raided the bodies of dead Bubonic plaque victims in 1413.

Most of these herbs are still in use today and indeed many of them are ‘weeds’ or garden and culinary herbs. It is no coincidence that they exist in proliferation in order to supply us with an abundance of natural medicines. Whilst there are too many herbal remedies to discuss in a quick informative read, let us discuss five important ones used to support the immune system. All the herbs mentioned are easily obtainable and come in capsules, tablets and tinctures from most health shops.

Olive leaf extract, with its high antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, would probably top my list of favourites, due to its ability to fight bacteria, viruses and fungus/mould infections whilst balancing the immune system. When it is uncertain if the infection is viral, bacterial or otherwise, this wonderful leaf will be effective. As it is an immune modulator (balancing as opposed to boosting) is also very safe for people with auto-immune conditions.

Echinacea deserves a definite mention. All of the plant, especially the root has proven white cell immune boosting effects, (so may not be suitable for autoimmune conditions), so encourages the body’s defence system to attack a variety of pathogens, whilst proving to be a valuable blood/lymphatic cleanser. It is no surprise that this herb is high in vitamin D, vitamin C and zinc – the very nutrients known to keep the immune system strong. People allergic to ragweed may not be able to use this herb.

Plants, like Astragalus, are useful to prevent illness and build up immunity. This wonderful, stimulating and strengthening herb contains vitamins A, B, C, E, and many minerals including selenium, also needed by the immune system. It will diminish weakness, build resilience and help nervous conditions, whilst balancing and nourishing the immune system.

Cat’s Claw is a lesser known plant which grows mostly in the Amazon rain forest. It is remarkable for its ability to rid the body of the resistant strep bacteria in throat infections. It is also known for its capability to rid Babesia and Bartonella bacterial infections as well as the infamous Epstein Barr virus. It is also very helpful for irritable bowel, leaky gut and inflammatory conditions, including arthritis.

Lastly, I have selected Pelargonium, due to its wonderful upper respiratory action, and the fact that it is an indigenous South African plant. It is a traditional remedy used for many years by the Zulus, Basuto and Xhosas as a cure for coughs, respiratory tract irritations. Today, it is shown to rapidly improve the symptoms of bronchitis, sinusitis and pneumonia, including headaches, fever and fatigue. It is also antiviral and prevents viruses from multiplying and attaching to the cells of the mucous membranes

As with all herbals, caution should be exercised with nursing and pregnant woman, as their use has not been properly evaluated in these cases. This article is not intended to treat any health conditions and the advice of a qualified health practitioner is recommended.

Improve your Digestive Health Naturally

Most illnesses start in the gut. If the digestive system is not working well, then you are not absorbing vital nutrients which can cause many health problems and discomfort.

Our digestive tract is an ecosystem of good and bad bacteria. It is responsible for the balance of health, absorption of nutrients and forms 80% of the immune system. These good and bad bacteria co-exist without any problems, attending to digestive functions and gut maintenance, as long as there is enough good bacteria/flora to control the overgrowth of pathogens, including yeast, fungi, bacteria and parasites. It is also where 90% of the neuro transmitters for our brain are manufactured, such as serotonin (the anti-stress, anti-anxiety hormone) and dopamine (the ‘happy’ hormone).

It is the loss of this “good” flora that eventually leads to “gut dysbiosis” – a build up of these pathogens that cause most gut problems including bloating, flatulence, indigestion, reflux, irritable bowel, spastic colon, chronic diarrhoea or constipation, crohn’s, colitis, and even colon cancer. Furthermore the breakdown of the digestive tract means that less nutrients are being absorbed, leading to a host of other vague problems such as lack of energy, depression, sleeplessness etc. Eventually the pathogens, especially yeasts, break down the walls of the gut, causing “leaky” gut and allergies.

Even more sadly, there has recently been a correlation between these gut problems and childhood learning disorders, such as Dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, Autism, depression and Schizophrenia. The overgrowth of these bad pathogens, now in the blood stream, also leads to damaged arteries, causing heart disease, candida, thrush, headaches, cancer, liver conditions and congested lymph glands.

So what causes the breakdown of these very vital gut flora? As the production of antibiotics grew from hundreds of tons a year in 1950s to tens of thousands of tons a year in the 1990s, so grew the evident and worried research into the harmful effect of these groups of drugs on human health. Antibiotics have a devastating effect on beneficial bacteria, not only in the gut, but in the organs such as the urinary tract system and tissue. Antibiotics change bacteria making it resistant to antibiotics, so the industry has to work on more and more powerful new antibiotics to attack these new “mutant” bacteria.

A good example is tuberculosis where new varieties of the Mycobacterium Tuberculosis is resistant to all existing antibiotics. They also have a direct damaging effect on the immune system making us more vulnerable to infections, which leads to a vicious cycle of more antibiotics and more infections.

Even people not actively taking antibiotics are subjected to it daily from farm animals and poultry which are routinely given antibiotics to the meat, milk and eggs which provide us with a constant supply of antibiotics and antibiotic resistant bacterial. A lot of fruit and vegetables are sprayed with antibiotics to control disease, so we simply cannot avoid exposure to antibiotics. When an antibiotic is prescribed in a high dose, it leaves the gut with a lot of empty niches to be populated by whatever bacteria, viruses or fungi would get there first. Also candida yeasts are resistant to antibiotics, hence the follow up of thrush infection in women (and itchy a**s in men). This is a crucial time to administer a good probiotic to re-populate the beneficial flora. Even when the course of antibiotic is short and the dose is low, it takes a long time to recover and the probiotics should be continued beyond the antibiotic course.

Most drugs, particularly prescribed for long periods of time, including sleeping bills, antacids, neuroleptis and cholinolytic drugs permanently have a detrimental effect on gut flora. Pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen, etc) stimulate growth of haemolytic forms of bacteria and campylobacter in the gut. Steroid drugs damage gut flora and have strong immunosuppressant ability, making it vulnerable to all sorts of infection. Contraception pills have a devastating effect on the gut flora and by the time a woman is ready to have children, she has been on these drugs for a long time and has an abnormal gut flora.

A human baby is born with a sterile gut and acquires most of its gut flora from the mother during the journey of its birth and then from breastfeeding. Lack of this flora predisposes this child to eczema asthma, allergies and in severe cases learning disabilities. Babies born of caesarean section have the disadvantage of missing out on this flora in the birth stage.

What we eat also has a direct effect on the composition of the gut flora. A modern diet of convenience rather than nutrition, full of processed foods has a serious detrimental effect on the gut flora. Too much sugary foods and processed carbohydrates increase number of different fungi, Candida species in particular, Streptococci, Staphylococci, Clostridia, Bacteroids and some aerobic bacteria. Processed and sugary carbohydrates and starches (white bread, cakes, biscuits, pastries and pasta) also promote population of the gut with candida, worms and other parasites. Excessive alcohol has the same effect.

Infections diseases like dysentery salmonella, some viral infections and operations under anaesthetic can cause lasting damage to the gut flora. It is a common after effect of surgery, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and radiotherapy. Repopulating the gut with beneficial bacteria is an important part of the treatment of these serious infections. Different chronic illnesses are accompanied by serious defects in gut flora, like diabetes, autoimmune disease, endocrine disease, obesity, depression and neurological conditions.

How do we re-populate?

Traditionally, our ancestors used fermented foods to maintain the delicate ecosystem of the gastro intestinal tract and this is still important to maintain gut health, but often not enough to reverse the damage or re-establish the good bacteria.

In the short term (or even long term for people who do not consume fermented foods), cultured probiotic supplements in the form of capsules, powders or liquids from a reputable supplier, will help to re-establish this vital gut flora. Most probiotic supplements need to be refrigerated and should therefore be bought from a store where they are stored in the fridge so that they have not lost their strength.

Once the good bacteria are established in the digestive system, it is important to ensure that this healthy eco system is maintained by good food sources, called ‘pre-biotic foods’ especially fermented foods,

REPAIRING THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM

We have talked about how low gut flora brought about an increase in pathogens and yeasts, causing many health problems, not just of the gut, but learning problems in children and even cardiovascular disease, due to the “furring up” of arteries and development of “bad” cholesterol and lipoproteins that cause plaque in the arteries.

The diminished gut flora can be caused by low birth flora, medications, bad diet, stress and disease. The rise in pathogens then causes a break down in the gut wall, causing “leaky” gut, meaning that food particles – especially indigestible proteins from gluten in wheat or casein in milk, pass through the gut wall into the bloodstream, causing allergies, asthma, eczema and learning disorders (from neurotoxins getting to the brain and nervous system, affecting its development and functioning). Research at the University of Reading in the UK found very high levels of Clostridia in the gut of 150 autistic children.

The treatment involves detoxing the person, clearing the gut, to lift the toxic fog off the brain. This is achieved by 3 steps. 1. Diet. 2. Supplementation. 3 life style changes.

1. Diet
Although the Gluten protein and wheat and the Casein protein in milk have been found in many cases to be culprits, it is not that simple. An IGG test (delayed reaction food antigen) will ascertain any food allergies. However, foods that are high glycaemic (turn to glucose quickly) will feed and fuel many pathogens and yeasts. Most people with gut problems crave the very food that harms them – processed carbohydrates.

The typical pattern of young children with learning problems is a diet high in processed carbohydrates, dairy and sugar: breads, biscuits, cakes, sweets, crisps, breakfast cereals, pasta, milk and sweet yoghurts. Changing to health foods that are un processed but still high in high starch foods such as rice, sugar, potato starch, tapioca flour, buckwheat flour etc, will still feed the abnormal flora in the gut as much as the previous diet, as all these foods are high glycaemia.

The diet should therefore be high in “good” carbohydrates, such as vegetables, salads, fruits, as well as easily digested proteins in meat, fish eggs, etc.

2. Supplements
> Vitamin C – Everybody needs it, especially those with coronary artery problems or impaired immune system.
> B Vitamins – are essential for us to have every day and are especially needed to feed good gut flora
> Essential fatty acids – Omega 3 6 (fish and flax oil) and 9 (olive oil) – essential for brain development and always found low in people with learning disorders, dry ski, scalp and eyes, gall bladder problems and bad cholesterol
> Amino acids – pure protein source in the diet or supplements for vegetarians or fussy eaters – essential for neurotransmitters for the brain and nervous system
> Probiotics and probiotic foods – most important of all. This is needed to re-establish the good gut flora, repair the villi of the small intestine where food is absorbed and therefore increase digestion and absorption, as well as to prevent good enterocytes needed for absorption turning carcinogenic (cancer forming). This should be taken for some time (up to 2 years, but can be taken forever in people with sensitive guts, colon cancer history or taking chronic medication, including the Pill and HRT). Of course it stands to reason that a good probiotic should be taken during antibiotic or cortisone use, during (taken at a different time) and for 2-4 weeks after.
Probiotics are also needed to help to people with recurring urinary tract infections who have lost the beneficial bladder flora due to on-going antibiotic treatment.
In addition to probiotics – pre and probiotic fermented foods are needed to feed the good bacteria, such as sauerkraut, kimchi, kobucha, kefir an yoghurt etc.
> Other supplements that may be needed include, L-glutamine to repair the gut wall, anti-parasite herbs, Cascara to correct constipation, Vitamin K and fulvic acid to further assist establishment of gut flora (lacking in some people who bruise easily).

3. Life-style Changes
Apart from a healthy diet of nutritional foods and low processed foods it is important to understand the damage that stress does to the body. Hobbies, exercise, meditation and a positive attitude can help to reverse this. Some supplements such as 5HTP, Rhodiola or Sceletium can help to deal with stress (or lack of serotonin) without side effects, but long term a solution to the stress is better. Exercise keeps the body in good condition, but excess causes high free radical damage.

Is Stress and depression causing your health issues?

Stress, anxiety, and fear are often the underlying cause of many health conditions and failure to address this long term can hinder the process of healing.

Within my practice I often present with many cases that stem from stress. IBS and gastric ulcers are common for example. So, often we need to treat the psychological problem which has manifested as a physical one.

Every time we see something that frightens us (real or perceived, including violent movies and negative thoughts), our body responds by releasing epinephrine (adrenaline) into the bloodstream to fight or flight. This adrenaline decreases the flow of blood to the intestines and immune system and instead sends it to the muscles to respond.

Being in a state of fear or anxiety allows us to be abused and easily manipulated. It triggers the lizard part of the brain stem which activates primitive survival instincts such as aggression and flight or fight, overruling logic. Ask advertisers and politicians who take advantage of this to influence you for their own end.
When we are stressed and the threat is perceived (negative thoughts and emotions), the adrenalin in constant and these stress hormones go unspent and store up in the body cause many health issues such as:

Increased blood sugar produced as adrenaline increases glucose and decreases insulin, causing insulin resistance and diabetes
Obesity as adrenalin increases glucose which if not used, is stored as abdominal fat, increasing diabetes and coronary artery disease.
Increased blood pressure as adrenaline constricts the arterioles and veins, predisposing a person to hypertension
Increased cardiac risk as the adrenaline increases the force and contraction of heart muscles, causing arrhythmias and over stimulating the workload on the heart, leading to heart attacks.
Lowered immune system increasing susceptibility to fungal, viral and bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections in females.
Increase muscle tension as the adrenaline increases blood flow to muscle and causes increase muscle tension which can lead to tension headaches, shoulder pain, backache and body pain, which can later cause fibromyalgia etc.
Altered menstrual cycle and hormones causing an irregular cycle or no menstruation, to heavy or painful bleeding.
Sexual problems as adrenaline decreases hormones needed for sexual arousal and performance or erectile dysfunction and impotence, as well as decreased s***m production.
Psychic disorders, such as overeating, anorexia, bulimia, insomnia, depression, alcohol and drug abuse.

Methods to reduce stress and let go of fear

Mindfulness and Meditation
Numerous studies have proven the many physiological benefits of meditation to increase a sense of peacefulness and physical relaxation. The latest study conducted by Harvard researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital, determined that meditation literally rebuilds the grey matter in brains in just 8 weeks increasing the cognitive and psychological benefits that continue throughout the day.
They also discovered that meditation had a significant effect on clinical symptoms of gastrointestinal disorders, such as IBS and IBD.
There are many online meditation programs of different approaches and all seem to benefit.
There is also lot of scientific research showing that mindfulness or attention training, can benefit health and general well-being. By purposefully paying attention to what’s happening in the present moment, without judgement, participants in trials experienced profound benefits, such as reduced stress, improved sleeping patterns, a greater sense of well-being and increased clarity and focus.
Craniosacral therapy is very gentle non-invasive approach with teaches our body awareness and how to relax into a parasympathetic state which relaxes the nervous system.
Releasing pent up muscle pain
Muscle pain and stress are often referred mental stresses.
Yoga and Pilates
Commit to simple but short daily exercises that will release tight underused muscles. If you spend a lot of time at a desk, I front of a computer, in a car or plane, the psoas muscle, which is the long muscles along the side of the lumbar region of the vertebral column and pelvis, could be ‘stuck’ causing stiffness, hip, lower back and knee pains. You don’t have to become a gym bunny or even wear yourself out with cardio exercises. Stretch, yoga and Pilates moves, even as little as 5 minutes a day will unlock these sore tight muscles.
Loving yourself and your body
Self image and self love is necessary to reduce self induced anxieties about our body or performance.
You do not have to change your body or environment to start loving yourself. Loving yourself is a choice you make which comes from the inside. Easier said than done, but bit by bit start changing self-destructive behaviour to constructive habits and stop punishing yourself when you slip. Pack the scales away and just focus on giving your body what it deserves in the way of more healthy nutritious foods. Do exercises you enjoy, hang out only with people you enjoy – who do not make you feel bad about yourself. Drop negative thoughts as soon as they start creeping in. Stop comparing yourself to others and putting yourself down to other people – you are uniquely you.

Nutrition and supplements
Nutrition plays an important part and it is important that vital nutrients, such as B-complex vitamins and vitamin C, needed by the adrenal glands, are in good supply. Phosphate minerals such as potassium, magnesium and sodium are needed for the nervous system too.
Supplements such as 5htp, tryptophan, tyrosine, GABA, L-theanine, SAMe etc. have successfully been used in place of anti-depressants (but may be contraindicated to use with medicinal anti-depressants – always use under advice of a health professional).
There are also many tried and true herbs, used for generations to help alleviate stress, depression, anxiety and insomnia such as Passiflora, Rhodiola, Chamomile, lemon balm, Kratom, Sceletium, St John’s Wort, Avena Sativa, Valerian, Hops, Ashwagandha, Bacopa etc.

02/06/2021

My task is to analyse your body’s needs and problems, then instruct and educate you how to make lifestyle and nutritional changes, as well as using natural, but potent medicines and herbals to coax your body into its natural healthy, holistic wholeness.

To this end, we use questionnaires and screening methods such as live blood analysis (on-site only) and/or the BodySonic MRA scanning equipment (on site or remote) to ascertain your particular problems, so that we can put together a health plan and treatment, tailored for you. Sometimes pathology tests are also required.

Whilst our recommendations will assist with the symptoms, our real objective is to find the cause of the problem and treat that, so that you have a long lasting effect and can continue to keep your health on top.
We do not sell products, but everything we suggest will be natural and non-invasive. However, in order to attain true health, the body needs to rid itself of the many toxins (environmental and in foods), as well as invasive pathogens, such as parasites, bacteria, viruses and heavy metals/chemicals etc, in order to function properly.

This often means that initially, as we work, you may experience an uncomfortable detox effect, as the pathogens and chemicals leave the body through the various elimination organs. Please note that this is a normal, and often desirable effect, and will pass when the worst has been eliminated. Side effects may cause headaches, mild skin rashes, fatigue, thirst, loose bowels etc. Once this is achieved, so many people are overjoyed with their newfound energy and wellbeing.
