Menopause marks the transition into the majestic years of a woman's life and should not be dreaded or feared. It usually occurs between 48-52 years of age.

Some of the common menopause symptoms that women may experience in their golden years are:

• Hot flushes, night sweats, insomnia.
• Mood changes: irritability, depression, anxiety.
• Sexual function changes: low libido, vaginal dryness, painful in*******se.
• Sore or tender breasts.
• Metabolic changes: easy weight gain, more difficult to lose.
• Urogenital changes: more prone to urinary tract infections, and thrush.
• Memory problems
• Bone changes: more prone to osteoporosis

There are a number of explanations for why vaginal dryness can occur during sexual in*******se. Some of the most common causes include:

• Inadequate sexual stimulation
• Drop in Oestrogen typically seen after childbirth and with breastfeeding
• Menopause
• Birth control pills
• Medical conditions such as Diabetes
• Auto-immune disorders like Sjogren’s syndrome
• Cancer treatments: Early removal of ovaries, Hormonal therapy, Chemotherapy, Radiation
• Other medications such as Anti-oestrogen meds, certain Antidepressants and Antihistamines

For many women, getting your period may just cause mild discomfort, but to others, it may be debilitating. Every woman is different. Common symptoms can include cramps, breast soreness and headaches but more severe pain could be a sign of endometriosis or uterine fibroids.

- Burning urine

The best way to keep your baby healthy is to make sure you are healthy. This includes maintaining a healthy diet, exercising, and not consuming alcohol or recreational drugs of any kind.
