Today we’d like to honour one of our volunteers, Dani Makhweru. Dani began her involvement with Choices in 2017, volunteering as part of her studies, while visiting from the Netherlands. She fell in love with Africa and came back the following year to continue her work with the organisation.

Over the next five years, Dani took on a vital leadership role at Choices. She managed the centre, supervised the counsellors, and ensured the effective day-to-day operations. Dani was also instrumental in networking and served as an active member of the management team, contributing to the organisation’s growth and development.

Dani’s passion and determination became especially apparent during and after the pandemic. She adapted to new challenges by initiating online counselling services for clients, which enabled Choices to remain open and accessible during a difficult period.

As a pioneer and visionary, Dani consistently brought innovative ideas to Choices. Last year, she launched an ultrasound service, further enhancing the support available to clients. This addition has allowed many clients to benefit from free ultrasound services, strengthening the overall impact of Choices.

Dani and her husband have now decided to relocate to the Netherlands. While it is with heavy hearts that the team bids her farewell, we are so grateful for her remarkable contributions. Dani leaves behind a powerful legacy, having established a strong foundation upon which Choices can continue to grow and serve the community.

The Choices team extends their warmest wishes to Dani and her family as they embark on this new chapter. Her influence and dedication will be remembered for years to come.
