We are dedicated to helping patients on the organ donation waiting list get a second chance to live full, healthy lives again, while inspiring all South Africans to step up and make a difference through blood and organ donation. At just 23, Mosa was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure, spending two years fighting for his life. A generous family’s organ donation gave him a second chance, and he’
s dedicated his life to ensuring others receive the same opportunity. With the Pedals and Provinces Cycle Tour, we’re riding to inspire people across the country to register as organ donors and support those facing the daily reality of organ failure. This year, the funds raised will support renal and liver failure patients in public hospitals who often lack essential resources for their physically challenging treatments. By helping with transportation to dialysis, food hampers, comfort items, and counseling, we aim to ease the burden for these patients and their families. Our Mission:
Your donation supports critical initiatives to:
1 - Raise Organ Donation Awareness: We’re cycling across provinces to bring attention to organ donation, aiming to increase organ donor registration by 20% across South Africa, especially in Gauteng and the Western Cape.
2 - Provide Essential Support for Patients: Many patients endure dialysis and other demanding treatments. We’re raising funds to provide transport, food hampers, comfort items, and counseling, making their treatment journeys more manageable.
3 - Launch the Transplant Assist Program (T.A.P): This living donor exchange program will guide families through the transplant process, connecting patients with potential donors—often their best chance for recovery. Mosa’s Journey and Open-Eye Foundation:
After receiving a life-saving kidney transplant in 2013, Mosa pledged to make a difference. His story became the foundation of Open-Eye Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness about chronic illnesses and the life-saving impact of organ donation. Through the Foundation, Mosa tirelessly advocates for organ donation, breaking down cultural misconceptions and inspiring others to say “yes” to giving the gift of life. "When you give your consent to organ donation, you’re giving someone else a second chance at life." – Mosa Mphore
