Recognising the importance of wellness in the workplace should not be limited to a single moment. But at the close of World Workplace Wellbeing month, and with Corporate Wellness Week coming up, we would like to remind you of the ways you can look after yourself, or encourage your staff to adopt 👷👩🏽‍💻

Stand like a hero & feel like a hero 🦸🏼‍♀️

The ‘superhero stance’ involves a pose in which the superhero stands with legs spread apart, arms on hips, and elbows bent. Several studies have shown that assuming an ‘open posture’ or ‘high-power pose’, as it is referred to in psychology, conveys a sense of power.

But what do our hormones say? Researchers found that when this pose is assumed for a short amount of time, the ‘power hormone’ (testosterone) goes up and the stress hormone (cortisol) remains low. It is also noted that high-power posers adopt typical behavioural patterns such as quicker decision making, risk taking and higher levels of confidence.

So, why not give it a try, be a superhero ✨💫

Pack a basket, we’re going for a picnic. And here’s why:

🌿 To engage in conversation
🌿 Share in laughter
🌿 Feel a sense of community
🌿 Participate in group activities
🌿 Allow time for self-reflection
🌿 Be outdoors, soaking up a bit of sun and breathing in fresh air, especially in a season when we mostly find ourselves indoors.

All these things are essential for emotional resilience ✨

Oh, and don’t forget a good cheeseboard and local wine! 🧺🧀🍷

Tell us, what are your favourite Winter picnic spot?

Men, I’m talking to you! 🙋🏽‍♂️💁‍♂️

In the lead up to Father’s Day, we observe Men’s Health Week to raise awareness about the importance of men’s health and wellness.

Historically, the campaign focused mainly on heightening awareness of preventable health problems, encouraging early detection and treatments for men, and to support men and boys to engage in healthier lifestyle choices and activities. But today more and more light is shone on the prioritisation of men’s mental health.

The 2025 theme of ‘shoulder-to-shoulder’ encapsulates this notion beautifully; encouraging men to support each other and to normalise men feeling comfortable talking about and prioritising themselves.

I have had the privileged to embark on therapeutic journeys with men identifying as brothers, boyfriends, husbands, fathers, creatives, business owners, adventurers and transgender, and in a world where the growing narrative is about celebrating women, I do want to remind you, a man: Take care of yourself, and mental health IS health.

“It’s just CHAOS!”

👆😵‍💫I hear this more and more as we approach the mid-year.

Chaos in the workplace negatively affects employee wellbeing, productivity and overall organisational success.

Here are 3 effective ways to deal with a chaotic workplace:
🗣️ Ask your colleague or manager to communicate more clearly to avoid confusion about your task or role
⏳ Set realistic deadlines and aim to manage your time more effectively
🧘‍♂️ Take regular breaks throughout the day as a way to manage stress and practise self-care

Many companies have employee assistance programs (EAP) and academic institutions offer similar support to students, so do not be afraid to ask if you are in need of confidential counselling.

But mostly, we all need to be reminded to recenter ourselves; and be reminded of our abilities. YOU WILL do great! 🙌

Today marks World Maternal Mental Health Day 👩🏽🤰

Maternal Mental Health (MMH) does not only involve postpartum depression. MMH conditions can occur during pregnancy and up to a year after, and can include:
🔸 Anxiety disorders
🔸 Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
🔸 Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
🔸 Psychosis
🔸 Substance use disorders

In fact, as many as 1 in 5 mothers experiences some kind of perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (or PMADs), which often go unnoticed and untreated and can have long-term consequences for both mother and child.

This year’s theme ‘Storytelling Saves Lives”, encourages individuals to share personal experiences. Storytelling connects and heals – as we often discover that others face similar struggles 🧡

We encourage friends and relatives of new mothers to ask her how she’s really feeling.

With around the corner, we celebrate all mothers! Be reminded of your own light and strength.
