Daliah Challening the status quo of menopause in South Africa There are 10 million women transitioning menopause in South Africa.

Daliah is a menopause wellness company on a mission to challenge the status quo of menopause in South Africa. We’re empowering South African women with evidence-based education, solutions, and a dash of wisdom to transition menopause positively. Menopause is a universal female experience, yet it remains shrouded in silence, secrecy, and stigma - at work, at home and in society. Daliah started out

with a powerful goal to learn what South African women transitioning menopause wanted, needed, and were experiencing. 1400 women told us they were suffering silently, struggling at home and work - unable to find practical solutions and support. We are a growing group of passionate women united in challenging the status quo of menopause, smashing taboo’s and bringing women’s health into the 21st century.

Lately, we've noticed a growing trend where brands and individuals are portraying menopause in a 'fun' or 'sexy' light. Initially, we thought this was a step in the right direction compared to the usual narrative. However, it soon started to worry us.
Did it trivialize menopause?
Did it unintentionally exclude large groups of women and parts of society?
We're still not entirely sure.

Nevertheless, we acknowledge that any change and increased awareness is positive. Since we're all individuals, diverse approaches are necessary.
We are committed to navigating this brand-new path carefully, authentically, and respectfully while staying true to our purpose.

We want to know what you think?
Let us know in the comments.

We've heard from numerous women that their symptoms and struggles have been invalidated, glossed over, or led to a damaging misdiagnosis. That being said, some brilliant healthcare practitioners are forging a new path for women's wellness in South Africa and we are passionate about championing them in this change. πŸ‘

This is particularly concerning, as these high-income earners are likely to be in managerial or executive roles. If 10% of these women were to exit the workplace in the next year because of menopause symptoms, this could have a significant impact on gender representation at the highest level - and put organisations even further backwards in achieving their gender equality goals.
