“When one of my best friends was diagnosed with cancer, it came as an enormous shock. She is an incredible fighter and I feel honoured to support her on her chemo journey. I’ve been growing my hair for more than two years now. When I recently read about the opportunity to donate hair to CANSA for making wigs, I decided this was a good time for a good deed. My hairdresser was so excited about my hair donation and we decided to go as short as possible, so I left the hairdresser with a 35 cm ponytail that I’m donating to CANSA. This is in honour of Torrin and all the brave fighters out there. You’ve got this!”

“Requirements – Human Hair Donations:
• Ponytail donation that is 25 cm or longer. Shorter hair may be used as a filler.
• Hair should be clean and dry.
• All hair whether dyed or treated is acceptable.
• When cutting the hair, please bind both ends with an elastic band covered with fabric and place in a zip-lock bag (this preserves it in the best condition while being transported to the wig manufacturer).
• Send your hair donation in a plastic bag with your name and contact details on it.”

THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR PARTNER IN CARING
Thank you so much for your generous donation

Around the country, there's an army of caring people dedicated to helping those affected by cancer in every way they can. We are eternally grateful for your gift that makes CANSA services possible. Staff and volunteers are providing compassion, understanding, support and friendship to cancer survivors and their loved ones at our CANSA Care Centres, Care Homes and community support groups.

Your contribution is saving many lives by helping us spread the knowledge that we have gained and providing screening services for people who live in rural areas and who have no access to medical care - an early diagnosis can save lives! Our message of cancer risk-reduction and screening reaches just over a million people every year.

You're also helping us provide a number of Facebook and web-based special interest support groups that offer a safe and welcoming space for survivors and caregivers. CANSA TLC supports children and parents affected by cancer; and our iSurvivor programme provides weekly emails to guide survivors to cope better along the journey.

Your gift multiplies when cancer survivors speak out and share their stories and give back far more than they have received. All of us at CANSA are very grateful that you care enough to give and we thank you for helping us to build a world without cancer.

Kind Regards
Elize Joubert Chief Executive Officer

THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR PARTNER IN CARING

Elize Joubert Hoof Uitvoerende Beampte

We want to thank these young people for donating their hair to contribute to people who will appreciate it sincerely - also those who did not want their photos taken.

"We saw how hard it was when our sister lost her hair during chemo. We thought donating our hair for a wig could be a way to make someone’s journey a little less hard and to show support for those fighting cancer. From Lexi and Emmi"
