The practice of Mindfulness can really change the way you show up in life🌼

It cultivates the ability to become more responsive instead of reactive in those moments that are usually not our finest☺️

You develop an awareness of your thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations in the present moment --- without that knee jerk immediate mindless reaction 🌼

I found the practice of Mindfulness during a very challenging time in my life --- but I always think that Mindfulness actually found me😊

The timing was perfect.

For the first time in my life I dipped my toe into the silence ... beneath the constant noise of my busy mind and the routines and patterns that kept me stuck in fear, anxiety and self-judgment.
🌷
Slowly I became curious --- even comfortable --- in those little pockets of quiet, especially during sitting meditation.
🌷
That curiosity not only changed me, but saved me in a lot of ways.
🌷
From that place I began building my own practice and dove deep into the science behind it (my curious brain needed to understand how this works 🧠)
🌷
I went on to complete a two year Mindfulness based stress reduction diploma through the university of Stellenbosch, which deepened both my practice and my discipline, and I've never looked back.
🌷
It is from this place that I now teach: grounded in practice, rooted in compassion and in awe of this life changing innate ability that belongs to all of us.
🌷

I found the practice of mindfulness during a really difficult time in my life — or maybe, mindfulness found me.

Mindfulness has changed my life in many ways.

Not in a dramatic, overnight sense—but in the quiet, steady way it’s helped me come back to myself again and again. My disciplined practice of mindfulness has changed the way I show up in my own life. I notice more. I react less. I’m more aware—not just of what’s going on around me, but of what’s happening inside me. That awareness has been the foundation of my personal resilience. It’s grown over time. And it continues to grow.

I’m offering a four-week Introduction to Mindfulness workshop, where we meet once a week for 90 minutes. It’s for anyone who wants to begin this practice in a supportive, grounded way—no pressure, just presence.

🌸May the value of the sacred pause be the gift to ourselves and each other in 2024🌸

Before we react, may we take a moment to gently stop...wait...and curiously lean inside ourselves...
May we create a space where we hold ourselves and each other with loving, kind and gentle awareness.
🌸
Viktor Frankl famously said:
"Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
🌸
By cultivating this pause we not only gift each other with the sacred ground to feel safe, heard and loved despite our differences, but we also gift ourselves with a sacred space where we realize that we are capable of holding so much more than we thought possible.
🌸
Within this pause we hold our own and each other's vulnerabilities and fears with gentle compassionate kindness.
I think this is the biggest gift to the ones we love.
