Heartfelt Home

Heartfelt Home was established near Addo in the Eastern Cape in 2008 and is run by Helen and Mark van Breda. Helen’s mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s just before her parents' 50th wedding anniversary, which has added to Helen’s passion to assist others faced with the same and similar condition.

As a family, they were overwhelmed and afraid as they had no idea of what to expect. Helen describes her mother as always being a very capable homemaker and gardener and it was heart-breaking to see her in an environment that was devoid of flowers, tenderness and space to walk.

This was her inspiration to create a home that feels like “home” but functions efficiently – a place where she would have been happy to bring her mom. Her dream became a reality as in May 2008 the building of Heartfelt Home was completed.
