Cyclists — before race day, can you actually pass these three tests?
🚴🏾♂️Step Down Test: A great way to look at knee and hip stability. If the knee collapses inward or the movement feels unstable, it can highlight weakness or control issues that could show up during long rides.
🚴🏾♂️Functional Threshold Power Ramp Test: This test gradually increases workload until exhaustion. It helps estimate your maximum aerobic power and cycling capacity, which is widely used by elite cycling programs to monitor performance.
🚴🏾♂️The Talk Test: Simple but effective. If you can still talk comfortably while riding, you’re likely still within your aerobic threshold — the foundation of endurance performance.
These quick checks can reveal a lot about strength, stability and endurance before you line up on race day.
