Ubuntu in Group Therapy: “I am because we are.”

In this week’s OTGrow video, Louise unpacks how Ubuntu can guide your facilitation style, helping you hold space for both individual growth and collective wisdom in your groups. Each member brings their unique “colour” and together we form a vibrant pack of crayons!

Watch now and reflect:
- Do you lean more toward individual or collective facilitation?
- How can you integrate both in your sessions?

The Final Living Library of 2025 Is Here; Are You Ready to Listen Differently?

Politics can divide us, but what if it could also connect us? This Saturday, join OTGrow and Mending Broken Beauty for the last Living Library of the year, where you’ll “borrow” a person instead of a book and engage in real, respectful conversations across political lines.

Living Libraries make space for:

- Uncomfortable but necessary conversations
- Challenging stereotypes
- Hearing lived experiences, not headlines
- Building empathy and informed perspectives

This is a virtual event, so you can speak freely and safely from wherever you are.
Limited seats. Proceeds support vulnerable women through Mending Broken Beauty’s healing programmes.

Where have we come from, and where are we going?

In celebration of OTASA’s 80th anniversary, OTGrow hosted the first Conversation on the History of OT Groups in South Africa, a powerful reflection on our profession’s journey from the 1950s to today. From psychodrama and projective techniques to the evolving role of OT in mental health, this session brought together voices across generations to shape the future of group work.

Part 5 | Illuminate the Group’s Need

Have you ever noticed your group slipping into chit-chat or staying on the surface? Sometimes it’s avoidance… but sometimes it’s exactly what the group needs, to laugh, play, and simply be.

In this final episode of this series, Louise shares how process illumination helps you recognise the difference, adapt your facilitation goals, and hold space for both the deep work and the joy.

Tell us in the comments: Which tip from this series has made the biggest difference in your facilitation?
