Training side by side with my husband was the heart of this journey. But on race day, I had to make the tough call to leave him when he started struggling. Running solo after the 30km mark is a different beast—it’s where the marathon stops being about the legs and becomes all about the mind.

What made it unforgettable was the setting: weaving through the rural beauty of Limpopo, cheered on by strangers who felt like family. Village kids ran alongside us, pointing and shouting with pure excitement, their joy lifting tired spirits.

The small villages turned into grand stadiums.
It’s a race that reminds you why you run—not for medals, but for connection.

The Makoro Village Marathon isn’t just a race. It’s a story of endurance and community.

21 km of sweat, smiles, and shared strength!
Yesterday my husband and I took on the
SPAR Tzaneen Tuffy Half-Marathon and what stood out most wasn’t just the breathtaking Limpopo views-it was the incredible sense of community.

As a physiotherapist, I see daily how movement brings people together, heals bodies, and uplifts spirits. Running alongside so many passionate athletes reminded me that recovery, resilience, and performance are all stronger when we’re connected.

Whether you’re training for your next race or simply trying to stay active, remember: your body thrives when supported by community and care.

Here's to celebrating every step, every runner, and every shared finish line.

Started a run, ankle tweaks... and of course I push through 9 km because quitting mid-run feels harder than the pain itself. And yes-I made it worse. Sometimes the toughest patient is yourself.

But here’s the truth: setbacks don’t end the journey, they reshape it. With tape, bracing, ultrasound, and deep-water running, I’m keeping Comrades training alive.

Every injury is a reminder: strength isn’t just in the miles we run, it’s in how we rise when the road gets rough.
