🧠 Teaching Social Skills to Children with ADHD & Learning Difficulties.
For many children with ADHD or learning difficulties, social interaction doesn’t always come naturally. It’s not a lack of willingness, it’s often a lack of understanding of the unspoken rules of social situations.

These children may:
✔️ Struggle with turn-taking and the flow of conversation
✔️ Misread jokes, tone, or body language
✔️ Find it hard to respect personal space or boundaries
✔️ React strongly to teasing or frustration
✔️ Seek immediate responses or interrupt others

The good news? Social skills can be taught.
With the right support, children can learn how to connect, communicate, and build meaningful relationships—boosting both confidence and wellbeing. 🌱

For some children, social settings can feel overwhelming, whether it’s making friends, joining group activities, or speaking up in class.
The good news is that social confidence is a skill that can be learned and developed.

Support your child by helping them:
✔️ Practice simple conversation starters
✔️ Understand social cues and boundaries
✔️ Manage big emotions like shyness or anxiety
✔️ Build confidence through small, positive interactions

With the right guidance, children can learn to feel more comfortable, connected, and confident in social environments. 🌟
If your child struggles socially, support can make a meaningful difference in their confidence and wellbeing.

Divorce can be a deeply emotional and confusing time for children and adolescents. Even when it’s handled with care, it often brings feelings of loss, uncertainty, anger, or anxiety.
Children may not always express these emotions clearly, but their behaviour often reflects what they’re going through.

Support can help children:
✔️ Process and understand their emotions
✔️ Adjust to new family dynamics and routines
✔️ Build resilience and a sense of stability
✔️ Feel heard, supported, and secure

With the right guidance, children can navigate this transition in a healthy way and continue to grow with confidence.
You don’t have to navigate this alone, support is available for both you and your child.

Children with ADHD are often misunderstood. They may be seen as lazy, distracted, or “not trying hard enough”, when in reality, they are working much harder than it seems.

ADHD affects how a child:
✔️ Focuses and sustains attention
✔️ Manages impulses and behaviour
✔️ Organises tasks and schoolwork
✔️ Regulates emotions

Without understanding and support, these children can quickly lose confidence and feel frustrated.
With the right guidance, however, children with ADHD can learn to manage their challenges, build on their strengths, and thrive both at school and beyond. 🌟
If you suspect your child may be struggling with attention or behaviour, early support can make a meaningful difference.

When it comes to children, early support makes a lasting difference.
Small learning, emotional, or developmental challenges can grow over time if left unaddressed. But when identified early, children can receive the right guidance before frustration, anxiety, or low self-esteem take root.

Early intervention helps to:
✔️ Strengthen foundational skills
✔️ Build confidence and resilience
✔️ Prevent long-term academic struggles
✔️ Support healthy emotional development

You don’t have to wait until things feel overwhelming. Acting early can change your child’s entire school journey.

The Importance of Addressing Learning Difficulties Early
When a child begins to struggle at school, it’s easy to hope they will “catch up.” But unresolved learning difficulties often become more complex over time — affecting confidence, motivation, and emotional wellbeing.

Early identification allows us to:
✔️ Understand the root cause of the difficulty
✔️ Implement targeted support strategies
✔️ Prevent academic frustration and low self-esteem
✔️ Build resilience and confidence from the start
The earlier support is provided, the better the long-term outcome.
If you’ve noticed your child struggling, don’t wait. Early intervention can change the trajectory of their entire school journey.

📝 Concession Applications

Some learners experience barriers during assessments that make it difficult to demonstrate their true ability. This may include difficulties with reading, spelling, writing speed, visual processing, or other learning challenges.
For example, a learner who struggles to write quickly may not finish exam papers. In cases like this, extra time or other concessions may be applied for.
Applying for a concession requires a psycho-educational assessment report, which serves as an official document supporting the application.

Concession applications are submitted through the school and are processed by the relevant examination body, such as the Department of Education (provincial) or the IEB. Approval cannot be guaranteed, as the final decision rests with the examining authority.
If you believe your child may require concessions, it is important to discuss this with your school, as they facilitate the submission of the application.
