Looking forward to speaking on Boundaries in Parenting tonight! What a privilege.

Research tells us that kids need boundaries to lead happy and healthy lives. But setting healthy boundaries isn’t easy at all! However, the more we know, the better we do. Well done to for running this parenting course.

It’s World Mental Health Day! 10/10/24

With so much of the day spent at work, it’s crucial that work promotes and protects mental health. 30% of employees are struggling with their mental health - that’s one in every three or four people. Thinking of all those that struggle today. I hope you are brave enough to access support.

Sitting in the sun admiring these beautiful roses. Every year on the anniversary of our miscarriage, we buy yellow roses. We honour and remember our baby Faith (as we named her) - even though her little soul was with us for such a short time.

I am always grateful to her for the way she shifted my perspective on parenthood. I developed a much deeper appreciation for being a mother, which has shaped many of my life decisions.

It can help to find purpose in our pain. Grief experiences can shape us in profound ways.

If you’re struggling, I strongly recommend David Kessler’s book, “Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief”. Kessler introduces us to the concept of finding meaning in our grief, suggesting that while we may never get over a loss, we can find ways to move forward with it.

In seeking meaning, we honor our loved ones by integrating their legacy into our lives.

Let’s embrace our grief, share our stories, and find the meaning that allows us to move forward with love and purpose. 💛💛💛

The power of JOURNALING and QUIET TIME - great tools to process grief emotions in a healthy way.

When I am overwhelmed with emotion - irritability, sadness, anger, whatever it is - I know I need to take myself off for a quiet time. I sit down with my journal and Bible. I write down my thoughts and feelings to process and release them. This is cathartic! And then I pray and read my Bible, asking God to help me see the situation in a healthier way.

I strongly recommend the practice of regular JOURNALING and QUIET TIMES as you navigate your grief journey.

What helps you most of all? Consider sharing for others to learn.

Sending love and strength to you all ♥️

Grief is a complex and deeply personal journey. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross’s groundbreaking work on the stages of grief provides a roadmap to navigate this challenging process. Her model outlines five stages that many people experience:

1. **Denial**: This is the initial shock and disbelief that numbs us to the reality of our loss.
2. **Anger**: As the denial fades, intense emotions and frustration surface. We might feel angry at ourselves, others, or the situation.
3. **Bargaining**: Here, we find ourselves making deals or promises, hoping to reverse or lessen the loss.
4. **Depression**: Deep sadness sets in as we begin to confront the weight of our loss and its impact on our lives.
5. **Acceptance**: Over time, we come to terms with our loss, finding a way to move forward while still honoring our loved ones.

Remember, grief isn’t linear. We might revisit these stages at different times and in varying intensities. Allow yourself the space to feel and heal in your own way.

We grieve because we love.

Our beloved cat George recently went to cat heaven. He was almost 20 years old. It was time.

I cannot believe how much I miss him. We grieve because we love.

There is so much grief in our world at the moment. And the thing about grief is that our current loss triggers memories and wounds for each one of us related to other things we have lost in our lives.

We experience grief not only when a loved one (or pet) dies, we experience grief when a relationship or friendship ends, when we move jobs, schools or cities and even when we are injured or ill. It’s all loss and change.

As I say to my clients, the only way through pain is through it.

Don’t be afraid to seek help to work through the pain of grief. Showing vulnerability is courageous. Not weak.

Sending love and strength to all those who are grieving.

I am going to be sharing some tools that may help you so follow and join me on this healing journey.
