This World Doula Week, we’re celebrating what makes DOSA different. No bureaucracy. No unnecessary hurdles. Just a welcoming community where doulas connect, grow, and support each other—pure and simple. 💛

"Sibambene" isn’t just an idea or a fluffy tagline—it’s our promise to stand together, lifting each other as we push the boundaries of what doula work can be in South Africa. It’s about unity, empowerment, and the belief that together, we are stronger.

*Holding Space, Building Change | World Doula Week*

Birth work isn’t just about what happens in the delivery room—it’s about the hands that hold, the voices that reassure, and the hearts that stay open. At Doulas of South Africa (DOSA), we believe leading with heart means showing up for doulas the way doulas show up for their clients: with care, with intention, and with the knowledge that support changes everything.

🧡 It means creating a space where doulas aren’t just seen as caregivers but as professionals deserving of respect, fair pay, and real opportunities.

🧡 It means honoring the diverse traditions and cultures that shape birth in South Africa—because our work should reflect the people we serve.

🧡 It means standing together, amplifying each other’s voices, and making sure no one has to navigate this path alone.

This World Doula Week, we’re not just celebrating doulas—we’re reaffirming our commitment to them. To every birth worker out there: you matter, your work matters, and we’re here to make sure you’re supported every step of the way.

At Doula’s of South Africa (DOSA) we’re not just holding space for birth - we’re holding space for each other.

Meet Our Community Leaders | World Doula Week

Birth work is heart work. It’s showing up, holding space, and making sure no one walks this journey alone. This World Doula Week, we’re celebrating the people who make that possible.

✨ Kefilwe Sibenya | Executive Director
For Kefilwe, birth and postpartum care are about more than just the medical side of things—it’s about culture, community, and honoring the traditions that have carried generations before us. She’s here to make sure every mother feels seen, every doula feels supported, and no one is left behind.

✨ Steph Nel | Director of Doula Support
Doulas pour their hearts into this work, but too often, they’re the ones left without support. Steph is here to change that. She’s building a future where doulas can thrive, where birth work is sustainable, and where no one has to choose between following their calling and making a living.

At Doulas of South Africa (DOSA), we’re not just holding space for birth—we’re holding space for each other. Because when we stand together, we change what’s possible.

**✨ BIG NEWS: DOSA HAS A NEW LOOK! ✨**

This is more than just a rebrand—it’s a reflection of who we are, where we come from, and where we’re going. 🌍💛

When DOSA first began, we looked outward for guidance. But the more we tried to fit into international models, the more we realized… **our stories, struggles, and strengths are different.** What we need isn’t borrowed—it’s built from the ground up.

Our new logo represents **layers of support**—from DOSA to doulas to the families we serve. The **green globe** speaks to both our **roots and our growth**, and the **African belly beads** remind us of the sacred, unbroken circle of care we hold.

👐🏽 **Sibambene. We hold each other.** 👐🏽

This is our commitment to a future where birth work in South Africa is **sustainable, accessible, and deeply rooted in our traditions.**

📣 **Join us in this movement!** What does Sibambene mean to you? Drop a ❤️ if you feel the power of community, or share your thoughts below! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

So proud of to have Kefilwe representing DOSA on The Morning Show SA this morning.

"A Midwife catches babies, and a Doula catches moms. That's how simple it is."

Our very own Doula Kefi is going to be on The Morning Show SA tomorrow, chatting all things doula!
