Welcome to my very real, very human attempt at making sense of work–life balance!
These slides? A little messy. The layout’s slightly off. Things don’t quite line up. Kind of like trying to juggle a career, parenting, relationships, self-care, and remembering to brush your hair before school drop off.
So if you’ve ever:
1. Taken a work call while wiping p**p off the wall,
2. Forgotten what day it is because “homework” and “meetings” seem to have merged into one,
3. Or proudly thought, “I’m totally nailing this day!” right before stepping on a LEGO...
Then these slides are lovingly made for you!
Let’s embrace the chaos together and laugh while we figure it all out.
Here are some quick, helpful tips you can scan while hiding in the bathroom or waiting for the kettle to boil...

Step into a magical fairy village, crafted with care by my daughter!
With her permission, I’m sharing this whimsical sand tray scene to help spread awareness about the power and beauty of sand tray therapy.

Every element, from the fairy lemonade stand to the cozy cottage paths... reflects themes of connection, safety, community, and playful imagination. This isn’t just a sweet creation, it’s a window into how children process their world, tell their stories, and explore emotions in a safe, creative space.

Sand tray work allows children to express what words sometimes can’t.
What story do you see in this tiny enchanted world?

Let’s Get Real About Parenting (Yes, Really Real)
Parenting is a wild ride. It brings you joy, love, giggles... and occasionally, the desire to hide in the pantry with a bag of Woolies chocolate peanuts just to hear your own thoughts.
These days, everyone's talking about "gentle parenting." Or, as someone once (hilariously) called it, “soft parenting”, like we’re raising pink marshmallows instead of small humans. Let’s clear something up:
Gentle parenting isn’t about being a pushover in yoga pants, whispering affirmations while your kid finger-paints the dog.
Nope. It’s about meeting your child at a place of cognitive safety, which is just a fancy way of saying:
“Hey, I get it. Big feelings are hard. Let’s figure this out together, without losing our marbles.”
See, coming at your kid with aggression or passive-aggressive sighing (we’ve all done it 🙃) doesn’t teach them emotional intelligence, it teaches them to shut down or power up. Neither helps when they’re trying to figure out how to be a decent human.
So next time you’re tempted to bark “Because I said so!” or do The Parent Point (you know the one), take a second and ask yourself:
“What’s my purpose here? To suppress... or to impress?”
Because guess what? Every child deserves a cheerleader in their corner. Pom-poms are optional, but highly encouraged.
Let’s raise kids who feel safe, seen, and supported—not just controlled.
You don’t have to be perfect. Just consistent-ish, compassionate, and willing to say,
“Oops. I messed up. Let’s try again.”
That’s gentle parenting. Not soft. Just smart. And a little sweaty.

Being a mom is one of the greatest joys yet also the most unpredictable journey of my life. It has taught me about unconditional love, patience, resilience and the beauty of growing together.
As a play therapist, I’m also incredibly honoured to walk alongside other mothers, witnessing their courage, love, and determination as they nurture their child/ren through life’s twists and turns.
Motherhood doesn’t come with a tailor made manual, but understanding is written in the quiet moments, the messy ones, the breakthroughs, the mistakes, and the bedtime stories. Whether you're a mom, a caregiver, or simply someone who shows up for children with love and consistency… you matter deeply.
Today, I want to give a shout out to all the mom’s I know. Those in my family, my friends, in my practice, and in my heart. You are seen, valued, and appreciated.
Happy Mother’s Day♡

Here’s to childhood friendships that shaped, challenged, and left us with stories we’ll never forget. ❤️

Growing up with my childhood friend was an adventure like no other; chasing dreams, making mud pies, and turning every ordinary moment into something mischievous. From climbing trees that were way too high to throwing my dad’s prize oranges over the wall, we mastered the art of being just a little rebellious.
Having a boy as my childhood friend meant I was always encouraged to break out of the "girly box"; to run faster, dream bigger, and never be afraid to get my hands dirty. He taught me the beauty of simplicity, the thrill of competition, and the joy of unapologetic fun. Whether it was losing his front teeth in an unfortunate game of "pull the stretchy", playing cops and robbers with potato guns, or choosing the best Smurf, I learned that friendship isn’t about labels, it’s about laughter, trust, and pushing each other to be our boldest selves.

What are some of your favourite childhood memories/activities with a friend? Are you still friends?
