NEWBORN FEEDING CUES 🍼👶
Recognizing when your baby is hungry helps make feeding easier and more effective. Here are common feeding cues:
✅ Rooting reflex – Baby turns head and opens mouth when cheek is touched.
✅ Sucking motions – Baby sucks on hands, fingers, or lips.
✅ Lip smacking – Baby makes smacking or licking motions with lips.
✅ Fussiness or restlessness – Baby becomes alert, moves arms and legs, or cries softly.
✅ Hands to mouth – Baby brings hands or fists to their mouth.
⚠️ Crying is a late sign of hunger, so try to feed before your baby reaches this stage.
Responding to early cues helps your newborn stay calm, satisfied, and well-nourished. 💛🍼👶
