We all choose partners who mirror 🪞 what we know from our first family - the emotional climate, how we do conflict, our beliefs about ourselves and whether it’s safe to trust are all encoded in our nervous system early on.

As we attempt to build lasting love as adults, many of us are thrust into chapter after chapter of disappointment as we search for “The One” who will finally love us in all of the ways we missed out on.

No one can ever fill the shoes of the absent love of a mother or father, our partners can never be that for us. But we can choose to co-create together with the awareness that our wounds will also walk with us in relationship.

And if we know our partner and what they’ve been through, the most loving thing we could ever do is to actively work together to write a new script.

This requires both partners be aware of what their own blocks and adaptations are, and a whole lot of patience. Because change like this takes time!
