Join Vanessa .with.vanessa for a 90-minute immersive experience of guided meditation and a soothing sound bath. Begin by releasing tension and quieting the mind, then drift into a dreamlike state between waking and sleeping. From here, gentle sound vibrations wash through the body, easing stress and restoring balance.

Our breath is always there - but most of the time we don’t really notice it.

In our yoga practice, we start to pay a bit more attention. Nothing complicated, just feeling the inhale and the exhale, and letting it guide how we move.

When the breath slows down, the mind usually follows. Things soften, there’s less urgency, and a bit more space to just be where you are.

It’s a simple tool, but it makes a big difference.
The more we come back to it, the more we start to notice how much it can shift - not by forcing anything, but by gently changing how we feel. Over time, it becomes something familiar we can return to, both on and off the mat, whenever we need to steady ourselves or reset.

What if the deepest relaxation you’ve felt in months was simply waiting in sound?

Join .with.vanessa for a deeply restorative Sound Healing Journey at The Yoga Room.

We’ll begin with gentle breathwork and simple movements to help the body unwind from the week. Then you’ll lie down comfortably and allow the powerful vibrations of the gong, Himalayan singing bowls, and chimes to wash through the space.

Sound works in a way that words and effort often can’t.
The nervous system begins to soften, the mind grows quiet, and layers of tension slowly melt away. Many people describe leaving a sound bath feeling lighter, clearer, and deeply rested - like the body has finally had permission to relax.

When I did my teacher training, I didn’t immediately think I would teach.

At the time, I was still working full-time in Banking in New York. I signed up out of curiosity and a desire to understand the practice more fully.

The teachers at where I did my training were incredibly knowledgeable, and it felt as though a whole new language and world opened up. The practice was no longer just movement. It became breath, philosophy, nervous system, subtle awareness. It all began to make sense in a much deeper way.

I clearly remember during the Yin teacher training feeling a profound sense of groundedness and of being physically rooted into the earth in a way I had never experienced before. Something shifted, and I knew this is what I wanted to do.

Many years down the line, what makes teaching deeply meaningful is the connection to others. I genuinely love the people I get to share space with: the quiet conversations before class, the small breakthroughs, the collective exhale when the whole room softens and you can feel the shift.

Sharing what I’ve learned - about the breath, the nervous system, about slowing down without losing strength - feels like passing on something that has personally supported me in so many ways.

Yoga is a lifelong practice and every season brings something new. Different people moving through the studio, different life chapters unfolding, different layers revealing themselves.

And that is what keeps me wanting to keep teaching. 🩵

Our Story

The Yoga Room is a contemporary yoga studio in the heart of Vredehoek. At The Yoga Room, our teaching style reflects our wish to make yoga inclusive and accessible. We really encourage you to come just as you are. Our students range from experienced yogis who’ve been practicing for years to those who’ve never rolled out a mat before. Our teachers are highly experienced, have diverse yoga backgrounds and create a safe, inviting atmosphere that welcomes people of all levels, of all ages, of all shapes and sizes. We keep our classes smaller, offering a more intimate space in which you will receive attention to detail and individual focus.
