Soetendal Estate Thoroughbred estate offering specialised pre-training,
spelling & rehabilitation, sales prep & boarding of broodmares in Wellington, Western Cape.

Situated 15km northwest of Wellington, off the R44, Soetendal Estate is a beautiful property set facing the dramatic mountains of the Limietberg, offering stunning scenic views on all sides. The farm is easily accessible by tarred roads. Founded in 1852, the farm is a National Heritage Site. At Soetendal, we provide the thoroughbred owner, trainer and breeder a range of superior services, including:
- backing and pre-training
- yearling sales preparation
- spelling
- rehabilitation and post-operative care
- permanent boarding of broodmares
- foaling down and weaning
- transportation of mares to all sires in the Western Cape
- retirement. Our facilities include:
- fifty stables in four separate barns
- a dedicated foaling unit with overhead glassed-in viewing area
- well-secured irrigated grass paddocks
- high rings suitable for colts or rehabilitating horses
- lunge rings
- 800m sand track
- starting stalls
- exercising areas: hills, firm and soft going
- winter oat pastures. We are situated 15 minutes away from Wellington Animal Hospital and 45 minutes from Drakenstein Veterinary Clinic. Members of our staff are motivated and keen to maintain the high standards that Soetendal has become known for.

Our final lot on behalf of Owloon Horses on the Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale is Lot 218, a c**t by in-form sire RAFEEF, out of the talented SNOW PALACE (Potala Palace), winner of 6 races including a 3rd in the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes.
This is a well grown, superbly athletic c**t - it's a joy to watch him move!

Our next Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale lot on behalf of Owloon Horses is Lot 175, a smashing c**t by champion sire VERCINGETORIX, out of RUNNING BRAVE (Brave Tin Soldier). This mating is based on the prolific Silvano-Jetmaster cross that has produce horses such as Hawwaam, Silvano's Pride and Quickstepgal.
RUNNING BRAVE was a top race mare, winning 8 races including the Gold Bracelet (Gr2) twice, the London News Stakes (Gr3), with multiple Grade 1 placings. This is her second foal, and with his elastic action he's one for the notebook!

We're excited to introduce our draft on behalf of Owloon Horses for the Bloodstock South Africa National Yearling Sale. Our first lot is Lot 20, a filly by JET DARK, whose progeny have been very well received so far this year, She is out of the top 6-time winning mare FLICHITY BY FARR, who ran 2nd in the SA Oaks (Gr2), the Gold Vase (Gr3) and 3rd in the Gold Cup (Gr3). This filly has scope and quality, as we have come to expect from Jet Dark.
