🎈April is a special time dedicated to increasing understanding, acceptance and celebration of individuals with Autism. While we celebrate differences every single day (yes, we do!), April gives us a bigger platform to collaboratively share important information and create awareness and acceptance.
- What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person communicates, interacts and experiences the world around them. It is a spectrum, meaning it presents differently in everyone.
At our practice, we use a neurodiversity-affirming approach to ASD, valuing each individual’s unique strengths and ways of engaging with the world. Through an occupational therapy lens, we support meaningful participation in daily life, promote independence and create enabling environments where children/our clients can thrive. We are passionate about advocating for acceptance, training teachers and caregivers and empowering every client to reach their full potential.
✉️ We would like to hear from YOU! What are some ways you plan to support or are already supporting individuals with ASD? Share with us in the comments below, or send us a DM to our inbox if you’d like!
