If your child or teenager has myopia or near-sightedness, spectacles can be prescribed to improve their vision. Some special types of eye glasses can also control the progression, or worsening, of childhood myopia.

The bad news is that standard distance spectacles do nothing to slow down the worsening of vision that occurs in kids and teens
with myopia. The good news is that special types of spectacle lenses can control the progression of myopia and give kids more stable vision between their eye exams.

WHAT IS MYOPIA CONTROL AND WHY IT’S IMPORTANT
Are you concerned about your child's short-sightedness, or myopia? Once a child has myopia, their vision typically worsens or progresses. This causes blurred vision between
eye exams and increases long-term eye health risks.

Myopia control involves treatments which can slow the progression of myopia: specific types of spectacle lenses, contact lenses and eye drops which are backed by scientific evidence.

Why is myopia control important? Because more myopia means more risk of eye diseases which can develop in adulthood. Myopia control helps to improve your child’s vision now and preserve their eye health for the future.
