This is a very common question I get in practice and there are more and more people struggling with digestive issues.

🪼 We need to understand the function of stomach acid.

🪼 We need to understand and treat the WHOLE system, not just the 'acidity'

🪼 Is it actually too much acid in the stomach or not enough?

🪼 Stomach acid is vitally important and we need more of it!

🪼 Try the fun home test on the last slide for a very basic stomach acid test.

I have been a part of our organization 'The Homeopathic Association of South Africa' or HSA since I was a student.

This year, I have the privilege of being the KZN chairperson to represent homeopathy and what we do!

We are constantly working to put homeopathy on the map and to be recognized as a vital part of healthcare.

With our many health centre's opening up around the country, we are providing homeopathy to rural communities and seeing incredible results at a fraction of the cost to the patients.

We want to alleviate the healthcare burden in this country 🇿🇦

Please support us by following our Facebook and Instagram pages for exciting updates and interesting information on homeopathy in SA.

Yesterday morning, I had the amazing opportunity to talk on Lotus fm for World Sleep Day 😴

Sleep is such an important function in our body and regulates so many systems.

I deal with a lot of patients who have had chronic sleep issues for many years and they get so used to it that it often gets overlooked.

Homeopathy looks at the underlying cause and treats each person uniquely and naturally to bring about a balance from the inside.

Do you feel tired and bloated; have poor concentration with a 'foggy' brain, irregular bowel movements, skin rashes and a general toxic feeling? 😴🤢🤧💥

You could be experiencing leaky guy syndrome.

What's this all about 👀 >>>

The gut lining is an important barrier that keeps a balance between good substances coming in and bad substances (toxins, allergins, etc.) staying out.

If this lining gets inflamed it can increase its permeability which means that it's tight-nit barrier is now more loose and open and is allowing more undesirable substances into the body which causes an immune reaction.

From this 🧱 to this 🥅

What can damage this lining?

💊Certain medications (paracetamol, aspirin)
🍸Alcohol
😷Gut allergies and intolerance
☠️Contaminated foods with toxins
⚡️Stress
🍴Low digestive enzymes
🦠Infections (candida, microbes)
🪱Parasitic infestation

How can I treat it?

Treatment involves using homeopathic medicines to deal with the root cause of the issue, using various supplements and herbals to heal the gut lining, removing any toxins or parasites from the gut and promoting healthy bacterial growth.

Fussy eating can start around 18months as a normal part of development.

Knowing the difference between a fussy eater and a problem eater can be helpful to know how to properly handle their eating.

As a homeopath, we are always looking to find the root cause of any issue and try to naturally balance and boost the body from the inside out.

Questions to ask yourself:

🍴 What is their eating environment like? Are they eating away from the family or by the TV? Where are they sitting to eat?

🍴 What are the family dynamics? Is there a new sibling that has caused a regression? Is meal time stressful? Is everyone together or separate? Are other siblings also fussy?

🍴 How often are they having snacks in the day? What snacks are they having? Are they being forced to eat?

🍴 How much fluids are they having in the day? Is this filling them up at meal times?

🍴 Are they avoiding certain textured foods? Are they overstimulated by sensory input?

The way you react and respond to meal times will also determine how your child will respond. Be mindful of how you introduce foods and what their mealtime is surrounded by.

Red flags to look out for if this is not just about being fussy but a deeper issue to look into:

🍴 Losing or gaining weight out of proportion to what they are eating
🍴 Choking or gagging when eating
🍴 Constant vomiting
🍴 Poor bowel movements
🍴 Sore and bloated stomach
🍴 Skin rashes and allergies
🍴 Nutrient deficiencies

Are you seeing any of these tendencies in your child and are not sure what could be causing them? Please seek a professional for a proper evaluation and treatment plan.

Va**ng has become hugely popular as an alternative to cigarette smoking, especially since covid. The question is - is this a safer alternative or not?

Here are the facts:

🌬 The quantity of ni****ne in e-ci******es varies greatly from product to product and is often mislabeled and lacks quality controls. Meaning that you may not actually know how much you are absorbing with each v**e.

🌬 The amount of ni****ne can range from 20 to 100mg/ml in e-ci******es with the lethal dose to adults averaging between 30 to 60mg/ml.

🌬 Because of the fun flavors and easy accessability, there has been a marked increase in people starting to v**e at a much younger age (studies showed an average of 14 years of age!).

🌬 Ni****ne affects the central nervous system which harms brain development up until age 25. Parts of the brain that control attention, mood and learning are affected.

🌬 Ni****ne raises the heart rate, increases inflammation in the body and damages the lining of the lungs.

But its not just ni****ne in these devices

🌬 They also contain:

- flavorings (carcinogens, oxidants)
- diethylene glycol (carcinogen)
- heavy metals (toxicity)
- N-nitrosamines (carcinogen)
- glycerin (causes pneumonia)
- propylene glycol (damages lungs)
Companies are claiming that va**ng is a safer alternative to smoking and can help you stop smoking altogether. However, many people who have stopped ci******es are now using e-ci******es instead.

The FDA rejected claims that e-ci******es are a safer alternative to stop smoking.

In 2020 there was a major breakout of va**ng-related lung injury with 68 deaths reported. They linked this to the vitamin E acetate that is added to the oils and was especially prevalent in the va**ng products containing THC (cannabis) as well.

What will the long-term use studies look like? We still need to find out...but I am certainly not going to add myself to those statistics in years to come.. are you??

Green tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis.

Green tea:

🍵 Is a great source of antioxidants to stop cell damage

🍵Does contain caffeine (about half the amount of regular coffee)

🍵 Contains an amino acid called L-theanine which helps to reduce stress and anxiety. It is also a valuable amino acid for memory and brain health

🍵May help with weight loss by increasing your metabolic rate and reducing bad cholesterol

🍵 Helps with digestive health by increasing metabolism and promoting healthy gut bacteria

🍵 Can regulate blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels due to its high antioxidants levels.

Matcha tea is a much stronger form of green tea.

Between these 2 caution must be taken as to how much is drunk daily because of the caffeine quantity.

Switching over from coffee to Green tea can have lasting affects on your health!
