Words to repeat to yourself: “I am allowed to embrace slow movement whenever possible. I welcome quiet strength however I can.”
-
Sometimes, strength is taking a deep breath.
Sometimes, strength is quiet, yet enduring, like roots.
Tree roots are mostly hidden underground. We don’t usually see them, but they are constantly working.
Like quiet strength, they grow slowly, taking their time to expand and strengthen, in response to the surrounding conditions. Tree roots, like strength, can also endure through seasons, year after year. Intertwined with the roots of other trees, they are not alone in their quiet presence.
Remember the tree’s roots when “being strong” is too much to carry on your own, for perhaps, like tree roots, strength is something that is meant to be shared.
Remember the tree’s roots in the moments where you feel strong, but not strong enough.
Remember the tree’s roots when you feel like you are growing, but not fast enough.
Because for all of the things in this world where speed and volume are the metrics of value, there still lies in this very landscape the sustaining nature of roots, and you are free to embrace your quiet strength all the same.
