Dr Ferreira has started his own private practice. And he is joined in the practice by a physiotherapist & psychologist.

A procedure room has been set up, where he can do removal of minor lumps and bumps, biopsies, suturing, pap smears, etc.

We would like to inform you that Dr. Ferreira's practice is closed today, Friday, 27 June.

However, Dr. Stead and Precious will be available next week.

Dr. Sarah and Dr. Ferreira will return on Tuesday, 8 July.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to serving you upon our return.

Please note that Practice Manager, Sunè, will return on 9 July, and any administrative issues will be addressed upon her return.

Just an update: The practice will be closed on Friday 18/10/2024. Dr Bjorn is still in hospital, but improving day by day. Thank you for your prayers and support.
Dr Stead and Dr Sarah will be available again next week.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Dr Bjorn will not be available until further notice. Dr Stead is available Monday to Thursday this week.

The year so far has been exciting and busy, and it’s time for Doctors Bjorn and Sarah to take a little break.
We will be away from 20 March to 1 April, but not to worry, Dr Stead will still be here looking after everyone.
Make your appointments early if you want to see us before we go away.

I have opened my GP practice at 19 Springfield Road (ERF 26), Winterton.

After completing our studies at the University of the Free State, my wife Sarah & I, moved down to Durban to do our internship at King Edward Hospital. It is there that we honed our skills and grew to love the people and the province of KZN.

We moved to Ingwavuma for our Community Service year and grew to love rural places and rural medicine with all its variety.

Since 2012 we have been working at Emmaus District Hospital, during which time I have completed my diplomas in Obstetrics, and HIV clinical management, as well as doing courses in Paediatric and Adult Advanced Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Nenonatal life support. Our family also expanded during this time with two children, now 6 and 3 years old, who have settled nicely into life in our beautiful area. I have worked in all the wards, clinics, casualty and theatre at Emmaus, and for the last few years ran the paediatric ward. I also briefly acted as Medical Manager, where I discovered that meetings and more meetings detracted from my time with patients, which was certainly not my cup of tea.
