Today is the birthday of Jon Kabat-Zinn, renowned for developing the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme and creating the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Centre for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society.

His life’s work emphasizes the power of 🌟mindfulness🌟 in increasing self-awareness, reducing suffering, and fostering resilience across the entire lifespan.

What can we say - we love his work. A true visionary! 🙌

On Friday last week, Shift1Degree was part of a wellness day for around 150 Auditor General (AGSA) employees, where we facilitated a two-hour mindful painting session. It's SO exciting to see big employers taking mindfulness and mental health seriously, and providing opportunities for their teams to learn this important skill.

Incredible! On March 22nd, Jasmin Paris etched her name in history as the first woman EVER to conquer the Barkley Marathon, AKA The Toughest Race on Earth. Imagine the daunting challenge: a grueling 160km race with a 60-hour limit. As the clock ticked down, spectators and viewers held their breath, wondering if she’d make the cut-off. Jasmin hadn’t slept in three days, battled nausea throughout, and raced against exhaustion. But she pressed on, fueled by sheer determination. When she finally touched the finish line marker, she collapsed, unable to speak from complete depletion. And then came the revelation: she had completed the race within the time limit, with a mere 99 seconds to spare! 🏃‍♀️💪🌟
