Ons is opgewonde om aan te kondig dat Innovation for the Blind se jaarlikse Basaar op 1 Augustus 2026 plaasvind! 🎉
Kom geniet ’n heerlike oggend saam met ons vanaf 09:00 by Refresh: Wellness & Barista Hub, 136 Church Street, Worcester.
Daar sal iets vir almal wees – van vars koffie, pannekoek, samoesas en koeke tot boerewors, sosaties en tradisionele nageregte. ☕🥞
Boonop is daar handwerk- en vetplanttafels, en vir die kinders ’n lekker jungle gym om op te speel. 🌿🧸

Hierdie naweek staan ons stil by die grootste offer – ’n bewys van liefde wat geen perke ken nie, en vier ons die oorwinning van lewe oor die dood.

Ons wil graag baie dankie sê aan die groep gemeentelede van NG Kerk Brackenfell-Wes Brackenfell-Wes Gemeente wat ons Dinsdag, 24 Maart, besoek het. Baie dankie vir jul belangstelling in ons aktiwiteite en dat julle die geleentheid aangegryp het om meer te leer oor die lewe van persone met visuele gestremdhede en lae visie. Dit was vir ons ook 'n groot voorreg om julle by Refresh: Wellness and Barista Hub te verwelkom. Ons is opreg dankbaar dat julle ons besoek het.

Not all who wander are lost.
Cracked heels travel to that place where…
Where none have wept, nor nightmares haunt,
Where darkness must flee from that glorious Light.
Where endless thirst is quenched,
And hunger no longer claws and gnaws;
Where the wretched are welcome,
Home as prodigal sons and daughters,
Where they feast at that Great Table with the Risen Christ—
The Darling of Heaven—and the lost find haven there.
Where those ancient cries and yearnings are quieted
By answered prayers;
Where those very prayers are hidden and held dear in Yahweh’s bosom.
Where death’s raven takes flight to the four winds of earthly woes;
Where the Eternal Dove of Hope builds her nest and rests assured;
Where songs of old once again find voice
And lift the weary traveler to Heaven’s gates and halls
Of those who overcame that Ancient Beast.
Where wounded soldiers cheer
And tell victorious tales of adventure and true treasure;
Where the songs of Valhalla cannot compare
With the worship of the angelic host.

Innovation for the Blind (previously Institute for the Blind), situated in the care capital town of South Africa, Worcester, is a non-profit organisation that has been catering to the all-inclusive, specialised needs of visually impaired adults since 1881. Our mission is to empower persons who are blind, partially sighted or deafblind, including visually impaired persons with additional disabilities towards improved quality of life and reaching maximal levels of independence.
EMPOWERING THROUGH INNOVATION
Caring for and offering vital services to our target audience is costly but adding Small Business Ventures to our portfolio enables us to be more resilient. Carrying out our vision and all its supporting activities is a significant challenge and doing so in a sustainable way requires us to partner with those who are brave enough to make a difference.
We are extremely proud to have several new projects that offer skills training, therapy and sheltered employment opportunities to 178 visually impaired and multi disabled persons that cannot be accommodated in the open labour market.
These projects empower them to become independent, economically viable citizens who participate in activities that improve their quality of life, give them a sense of dignity, provides joy and fulfillment at work and improves their independence and social skills.
LIGHTING THE WAY
Our unique services include residential, care, supported living services, therapeutic and rehabilitation services to adults and elderly persons with visual and other impairments. We are privileged to be the only organisation in South Africa that offers this vulnerable group of citizens the full spectrum of care and skills development they require to lead a fulfilling life.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER
The fact that 97% of persons who are visually impaired are unemployed, places a huge responsibility on Innovation for the Blind to provide in the unique needs of visually impaired persons. This is not a burden we bear, but a privilege we carry. However, we cannot carry it alone, and we therefore thank our friends, donors and partners for their loyal contributions and indispensable involvement over the years.
