Golf 6 TSI in for timing chain noise after recently being in at another workshop for the timing chain replacement. What we found: oil filter loose so leaking oil down the front of the engine + side cover bolts loose so also leaking around the cover + timing chain tensioner bolts loose so not providing the correct oil pressure to the chain tensioner + both cam gear bolts loose + chunks of sealant in the oil pickup. Lack of proper oil pressure led to slack in the chain at lower rpm causing the chain to rub against the cover and causing damage to the crank gear. Replaced damaged parts with new exhaust cam gear, new crank gear, new timing chain and new OEM side cover gasket. Started on first turn of the key with no noise.
