Which sounds should my child be saying?

Speech Therapist: "How many words is your child saying?"

Parents: "None"

This happens so often where parents think only actual words count as words.
BUT if your child is using any of the following independently, intentionally and consistently, IT COUNTS 😁

✅️ Actual words: "cat", "ball", "dog"
✅️ Word Approximations: "ca" instead of "cat"
✅️ Sign Language: signing "more" or "all done"
✅️ Animal Sounds: saying "woof" instead of "dog"
✅️ Exclamatory words: "oops", "yay", "wow"

"How many words should my child be saying, and when?"

It is always good to know if your child is on track in achieving communication milestones.

The sooner a delay is identified, the sooner it can be addressed.

Early Childhood Intervention takes place between the ages of 0 and 5 years. It is not too early for therapy.
