This is where we conclude our Food and Seed Festival, Zambian version.

The commemoration in its entirety was refreshing, we encountered many different indigenous foods and seeds from various parts of Zambia.
Not only that, it is amazing to learn that our farmers have even gone beyond to get seeds from other parts Africa. We had seed varieties from Burundi, Kenya, and learning about South Africa in summary was really awesome.

Otherwise, we appreciate the organizers of the ZSFF2025.
We collaborate with different partners at the event.
We remain open to collaborate with you, open the door too.

World Food Day 2025 | “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future.”

As we commemorate World Food Day, it is important to celebrate our indigenous foods the resilient, nutrient-rich treasures that grow naturally in our soils and sustain our communities.

Foods like millet, sorghum, bambara nuts, and local leafy vegetables remind us that good nutrition can come from what we already have around us. These traditional foods protect our health, preserve our culture, and use water more wisely in a changing climate.

As nutritionists, we believe that building strong and sustainable food systems starts with valuing what is local and natural. Let us promote indigenous foods so that everyone has access to nourishing, sustainable meals. Together, we can truly leave no one behind.

🌍✨ Day 2 of our Food Safety & Hygiene Training with GNS-Kitwe food handlers at Barloworld!

Today’s focus was on nutrient retention techniques in the kitchen an essential part of ensuring that the meals we prepare are not only safe but also nourishing. 🍲🥦🥕

We had another highly interactive and engaging session, where participants shared cooking practices, asked practical questions, and learned new methods to preserve the goodness in food. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with curiosity! 💡💬

The most powerful takeaway from today was the realization that how we cook directly affects the health value of the meals we serve. Some of the key lessons included:

✅ Using healthy cooking methods like steaming, grilling, and sautéing to preserve nutrients
✅ Avoiding overcooking, which leads to nutrient loss
✅ Minimizing exposure of food to excess heat, air, and water to keep vitamins and minerals intact
✅ Storing foods properly to prevent spoilage and nutrient degradation

These simple but effective practices stood out as game changers in improving the nutritional quality of meals. After all, safe food is good, but safe and nutritious food is even better. 🌟

The commitment and enthusiasm of the team continue to shine, and with every session, we are building stronger, healthier, and more knowledgeable food handlers 💪🔥.

Stay tuned as we keep unpacking vital topics on food safety and hygiene, raising the standard for safe and nutritious meals in Kitwe! 🌍✨

🌍✨ Day 1 of our Food Safety & Hygiene Training with GNS-Kitwe food handlers at Barloworld!

Today, we proudly kicked off a one week intensive short course on food handling a journey designed to build safer kitchens, healthier meals, and more confident food handlers. 🍲👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

Our very first module set the tone with an interactive and engaging session, where everyone actively participated, asked questions, and shared their experiences. The energy in the room was inspiring! 💡💬

The most powerful takeaway from today was the importance of discipline in food handling. Beyond just washing hands or wearing clean uniforms, discipline means:

✅ Consistency in practicing hygiene every single day
✅ Respecting food safety rules without shortcuts
✅ Taking personal responsibility for the health of every customer served

This simple but profound principle stood out as the backbone of everything else we’ll be covering this week because without discipline, food safety is impossible.

We’re only just getting started, but already the enthusiasm and commitment shown by the team promises an impactful week ahead💪🔥.

Stay tuned as we continue unpacking more crucial topics on food safety and hygiene, and celebrate the growth of these dedicated food handlers who are raising the standard for safe food in Kitwe 🌟.
