Yesterday 21/11/25, As Nutrition advocacy Hub we had the privilege of adding a voice at the Africa Health Resilient Summit 2025, Themed; sustainable financing, ethical leadership and Disease control, Organizationed by Premier Knowledge and sponsored by Cerba Lancet Zambia, at Mika convention centre, Lusaka, Zambia. A summit that brought together different stakeholder participation from different parts of the African Continent. Pan Africanism in building sustainable health systems through financing, accountability and local innovation.
Representing nutrition sector, we presented the topic titled "Nutrition Financing Beyond Donor Aid: Building Sustainable, Transparent Systems for Disease Control". In this topic we shared what we called the "Five Fingers" strategized interventions for Zambia and Africa at large:
1. Introduce Local production of therapeutic foods.
2. Strengthen Maternal and Postnatal Nutrition Services.
3. National Budget Reforms for Sustainable District-Level Nutrition Financing.
4. Strengthening Local Food Systems and Ending the "Staple Food" Mentality.
5. Cross-Country Auditing Mechanisms for Transparency.

We therefore, invite all prospect partners to champion the Zambian nutrition/health agenda together in this journey.

Food Systems Transformation Strategies as Nutrition Specific Interventions

Food systems transformation has emerged as one of the key nutrition-specific interventions implemented by governments, institutions, and organizations across Africa and globally. The aim is to ensure that the nutrition status of populations is restored and maintained at optimal levels. As an advocate for food systems transformation, it is important to understand that a food system is not limited to agriculture alone it covers the entire pathway from food production to the moment food is consumed in the household.

To achieve better nutrition outcomes, several strategies have been introduced across the different components of the food system. These strategies aim to make food more available, accessible, affordable, safe, diverse, and nutritious for all people. They also ensure that food is produced in a way that is resilient, sustainable, and responsive to the challenges faced by communities.
