Dr. George Pupwe, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Cancer Diseases Hospital, shared valuable insights on cancer prevention and treatment.
Cancer has become the next huge disease burden in Zambia and awareness, access, and screening are crucial for early cancer diagnosis as it saves lives.
Many patients in Zambia seek medical help when their cancers are in stage three (3) or stage four(4) this late presentation is because patients choose to visit traditional healers or pastors instead of hospitals, allowing the disease to progress unchecked.
He emphasised the importance of collective action: "We all need to unite in the fight against cancer, which affects everyone directly or indirectly. We all need to put our heads together to make Zambia ๐๐๐๐๐๐-๐
๐๐๐."
Note: CANCER SCREENING SERVICES ARE FREE AT PUBLIC HOSPITALS.
