Dr. George Pupwe, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at the Cancer Diseases Hospital, shared valuable insights on cancer prevention and treatment.

Cancer has become the next huge disease burden in Zambia and awareness, access, and screening are crucial for early cancer diagnosis as it saves lives.

Many patients in Zambia seek medical help when their cancers are in stage three (3) or stage four(4) this late presentation is because patients choose to visit traditional healers or pastors instead of hospitals, allowing the disease to progress unchecked.

He emphasised the importance of collective action: "We all need to unite in the fight against cancer, which affects everyone directly or indirectly. We all need to put our heads together to make Zambia 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄𝐑-𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄."

Ms. Barbara M'ule, is a Senior Medical Physicist at the Cancer Diseases Hospital U.T.H . With over 16 years of experience in medical physics, she has made significant contributions to cancer care, radiation therapy, and medical physics education.

Ms. M'ule has dedicated over 12 years to training and mentoring future medical physicists, playing a pivotal role in strengthening medical physics education in Zambia.

Her passion for capacity building led to her instrumental involvement in the development of Zambia's clinical training program for medical physics professionals.

Through her leadership and advocacy, she continues to promote high standards in medical physics practice, ensuring quality assurance, patient safety, and the advancement of radiation oncology services in the region.

Her commitment to professional development and international collaboration underscores her dedication to enhancing medical physics training, practice, and research, both locally and globally.
