Kabwe Central Hospital joined the rest of the nation in commemorating International Labour Day on 1st May 2026.

The event was graced by the Minister for Central Province, Honourable Mwabashike Nkulukusa who officiated as Guest of Honour.

In recognition of the dedication and exemplary service rendered by members of staff, the Hospital Management presented awards to deserving employees who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to patient care and institutional development.

Kabwe Central Hospital Management wishes to extend its gratitude to all employees for their hard work and continued contribution towards quality health service delivery.

Kabwe Central Hospital express profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for Kabwe Central for facilitating the construction of a relatives’ shelter at the hospital.

Hon. Chrizoster Halwindi Phiri handed over the relatives’ shelter today, Thursday, 30th April 2026. The facility will provide dignity and relief to families nursing patients at the hospital.

We commend the MP for this timely and compassionate intervention in community healthcare. The relatives’ shelter was constructed through Constituency Development Funds (CDF)

She appealed to hospital management and the beneficiaries, the community to ensure that there is proper care and maintenance for the benefit of all.

Kabwe Central Hospital Expands Surgical Capacity with Successful first ever Brain Surgeries for the Hospital

The first case involved a male patient with polytrauma and compound comminuted depressed skull fracture. Tracheostomy done to secure the airway due o mandibular fracture followed by craniotomy and Craniectomy. 6 bone fragments removed, with 2 penetrating into the brain tissue.

The second case involved a child who required a life-saving ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt to relieve intracranial pressure due to excess cerebrospinal fluid called hydrocephalus. A check by admin found patients stable and recovering well in ICU.

Dr Katambo a neurosurgeon from University teaching Hospital led the surgical team assisted by Dr Lukonde and Dr Wigan Mwape. Sr Bridget Miyandabo was the scrub nurse and Dr Twikale led the anaesthesia team.

These successful interventions highlights the ministry of health mission of providing equitable access to cost effective, quality healthcare services as close to the family as possible.

As a follow up to the Doctor's day that was celebrated on the 14th march, 2026.

Today 28th march, 2026. Doctors from Kabwe Central Hospital joined other Doctors from Central province to offer screening services to the community.

The activity was held at Kasanda police grounds where members of the public were screened for various services ranging from TB screening, BP check, Diabetes check, VCT and many more.

Today,on 24 march, 2026. Kabwe Central Hospital joins the rest of the world in commemorating, World TB Day to raise awareness of the devastating health and economic impact of tuberculosis. Under the theme "Yes! We Can End TB," led by Zambia powered by the community, as Kabwe Central Hospital our day was celebrated in style by going into the community and giving intensified information, Education and Communication which was accompanied by TB screening and contact tracing.

Leaders leading the way in improving perinatal outcomes.

Not your usual Tuesday—In-charges, Nursing Officers, Senior Nursing Officers, and Senior Doctors came together for a hands-on clinical drill in neonatal resuscitation.

This collaborative effort highlights our shared commitment to excellence in maternal and newborn care, strengthening team readiness, improving response times, and ultimately saving lives.

Beyond skills development, the session also focused on capacitating leaders for effective mentorship—empowering them to guide, support, and continuously build the competence of their teams.

Continuous training like this ensures that every newborn has the best possible start to life.
