MORE POWER FOR CENTRAL PROVINCE AS SOLAR IS LAUNCHED.
Central Province is a great and special province and it's greatness is manifesting in the agriculture and energy sector says President Hakainde Hichilema.
Speaking when he commissioned the Chisamba 100 Megawatts Solar Plant today, President Hichilema said more solar plants must come to reduce consumption of Zesco strained energy.
"This project will benefit everybody be it farmers or business people. I thank the traditional leadership for providing this land where the solar plant is sitting," he said.
"Encourage your people to go into irrigation so that we can produce more food even in the dry season, that is how we will develop the country. There is no planting season anymore, we shall plant all year round."
He said collaboration was achieving wonders because of the team work.
"You can see what we can achieve when we work together. Let's keep working together," he said.
"I'm here to direct that the power from this solar plant must be retained here in Chisamba, here in Kabwe and here in Central Province so that the people can see value in this project which they supported when it started."
He further said Zambia will reach a point where the country will produce more power than can be consumed then export the excess power.
The Chisamba Solar Plant becomes the biggest solar generating facility in the country at 100 Megawatts which has been constructed at a cost of $100 million.
Phase two of the project is already on cards to upgrade the plant to 200 Megawatts.
