Last week, as I was in the salon having my hair plaited. The hair dressers were chatting & telling stories of their past work experiences.
One hair dresser narrated how her previous job had been as a maid in one of the suburbs near by,
She narrated how the day she begun work, her madam gave her one very specific & strict instruction which was, "at no point or circumstance was she to interact with the madam's husband not even a greeting".

She adhered to that instruction...so for the first 7months of her working for that family, she never spoke to the husband...only the madam, the 2children & her 19yr old niece they were keeping who was at university.

In the 8th month, her boss's husband who was in his 40's had a stroke & was hospitalised for some time.

She converted into being a live in maid to stay with the children as her madam was at the hospital with her sick husband.

After 3weeks the man was discharged & thats when things changed.

When they returned home from the hospital, the maid wud cook meals as usual, but she noticed how her madam wud give food to everyone except her husband.

The madam moved her husband into the spare bedroom stating that the master bedroom was beginning to smell as the husband had begun messing himself.

One day while the madam was out, the maid was cleaning the house when she heard a weak faint voice calling from the spare bedroom.

She stood at the door and answered...the voice inside asked her to come in.

When she opened the door πŸšͺ, a foul smell met her nose & she saw her boss's husband for the first time ever since he returned from the hospital, he had lost so much weight.

He asked her to get closer. When she got near him, he said to her in a weak shaky voice,
"Please give me something to eat & help me change my diaper, i've been wearing it for 3days & it's burning".

The maid was modified by the second request. She didn't know what to do as she had been instructed to stay away from her boss's husband...she wanted to walk away, but the humanity in her cudnt just ignore this suffering man.

So she cooked some rice for him & fed him since he was too weak to even feed himself.

When she was done, she told him that she cudnt grant his second request & that he shud wait for his wife to return & she wud change him.

The man paused for a while & then asked her to do him a favour, he asked her to go into the master bedroom & look for his phone. He said,

"Once u find my phone, please look for a number saved as '********', call her & tell her I need her to come see me."

The maid knew exactly were the said phone was as she had been seeing it everytime she was cleaning the master bedroom.

She got it & switched it on. Found the said contact & called the number. The number didn't pick up until the 5th time of calling.

When she finally answered, the maid explained to her who she was & what was happening & the reason for the call.

The woman at the other end of the call didn't say anything, she simply hang up.

She called the number again several times & there was no answer. She put the phone back as she had found it & went back to the man & told him what had happened.

Before the man cud respond, they both heard the gate open as the madam drove in. The maid quickly grabbed the plate she had been feeding the man from & ran to the kitchen to continue doing her chores.

A week later, the maid was home alone with her madam's 19yr old niece. The niece asked the maid if there was any food that had remained from lunch so she cud give the uncle. That's when the maid built up the courage to ask what was really going on.

The niece then narrated how the man was married with 4kids to another & her aunt was just his mistress. When the wife found out about the affair, she left with her kids & the man married his mistress almost immediately & had those 2kids.

She also narrated how the aunt has been stealing money from the man's side hustle (a business he started with his first wife) & has been building a house secretly for some time, even before the man got sick.

She mentioned how she once overheard her aunt tell her sister, (the niece's mother) that..."these men usually go back to their wives, better I secure my future".

After he got sick, she heard her aunt tell her mom that she wasn't ready to be taking care of a 'vegetable' & better fye he dies.

Whenever his family wud call, she wud tell them that he's refusing to eat...yet she was deliberately not feeding him. & he had asked the niece for food on a number of occasions.

He had also asked the niece to call the same lady he had asked the maid to call, to come get him. That's when the maid discovered that the person he had asked her to call was his first wife who refused to get involved both times she was called.

The man didn't really have close family, he had been raised by an adoptive family who were not really involved in his life once he left their home.

After receiving the call from the maid, the ex wife called his adoptive family to go check on him & told them about the calls.

That's when his adopted brothers came to see him at home...they saw the bad state he was in & the smells from his body, but they did nothing because none of them was willing to get him & take care of him in their home.

That's how the madam found out about the phone calls the maid & niece had made on behalf of the husband & she chased both of them that same night after the husband's brothers left.

The maid later heard from the garden boy that the man had been gotten by his late father's uncle & had been taken to the village.. no one knows if he's still alive.

I was deeply intrigued by this story & so i asked alot of questions to the former maid/ now hair dresser.

Through the lust, the hurt, & betrayal in this extremely sad story....one thing I got is;

No one gets away with anything.

It may take days, weeks, months or even years. But that seed u sow will grow & in due course, when the season is right, it will ripen & u will harvest.

So please be mindful what u sowπŸ™πŸ½.

God is not mocked....for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap - Galatians 6:7.

Goodmorning 🌞.
