Subject : Handover Ceremony of 2024 CSR Projects
CCS Hands Over 1*4 Classroom Block at Lubuto Combined School, 1*4 Teachers Flats at Kalulushi Secondary School and a Renovated Maternity Ward at Kalulushi General Hospital
CCS ploughs back to the community with CSR projects amounting to over six million kwacha as part of the company’s commitment to education and community development through it’s corporate social responsibility initiative.
Chambishi Copper Smelter ltd yesterday 30th July 2025 successfully handed over it’s 2024 CSR projects to Government and the people of Kalulushi district at a handover ceremony held at Lubuto combined school in Kalulushi.
The ceremony was graced by Kalulushi District Commissioner Mr. Joseph Phiri. The DC was accompanied by Kalulushi District Administrative officer Mrs. Indiana Sakala,
CCS was represented by the Deputy CEO Mr. Cheng Mingming, Guest Liaison Officer Mr. Xiaobao Tu, Chief Interpreter Mr. Rui Hu, Administrative Officer Mrs. Lweendo Hamweemba and Public Relations Officer Ms. Ethel Musungu.
Speaking at the event, CCS deputy CEO Cheng Mingming reaffirmed the company’s commitment towards community development specifically through establishment of educational facilities, good health care and infrastructure.
“CCS remains steadfast in it’s mission to foster growth across Zambia, support local communities and uphold the company’s commitment to responsible business practices aligned with our corporate social responsibility budget and in accordance with local government priorities. We will continue to invest in key areas such as education, healthcare and infrastructure, contributing to the sustainable development of the country.” said Mr. Mingming.
At the same event Kalulushi District Commissioner Joseph Phiri expressed his gratitude to Chambishi Copper Smelter ltd for completing the teachers housing flats at Kalulushi Secondary School that have been in uncompleted state for over twenty-eight years and for giving the district a facelift.
Mr. Phiri said “On behalf of the New Dawn Government and I personally extend my sincere gratitude for your generous support, I assure you that my government, your government and indeed our government is committed to creating an enabling environment for investors like you, ensuring that your operations are secure. Moreover, your contributions significantly supplement Government’s effort to support the education of our children who represents the future leaders of the nation.”
Under the 2025 CSR budget CCS has the following projects under way;
• Construction of a new 1*4 Classroom Block at Chibuluma Combined School
• Renovation of the female ward and main corridor at Kalulushi General Hospital
• Construction of three foot bridges in Chambishi town.
