Our mission is to offer quality and affordable eye health care, as close to the community as possible in order to eliminate avoidable blindness.

To achieve this missikn, Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital continues to conduct capacity building for mid Level staff in Primary Eye Health Care to support the referral system and ensure early Indenfication of Eye Conditions that can be treated in health centres and the ones that need to be referred to the Specialised hospital(KTEH).

The Training was conducted at Cholwa Lodge in Luanshya for 40 midlevel staff.

This was also done to strengthen integration, inclusion and Comprehensive Eye care services in the District.

Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital recently partnered with Kitwe Teaching Hospital to host an Emergency Preparedness and Response Workshop.

The overall objective was to equip Nurses and other health care providers with more knowledge on how to respond to emergencies promptly and which will in turn improve Quality of care and avoid unnecessary delays in health care provision.

The participants were better equipped to handle any situation, ensuring the best care for our community.

This week, from 8th to 14th March,2026 , we observe Glaucoma Week, a crucial time to raise awareness about this silent thief of sight.

Glaucoma affects millions globally, often without noticeable symptoms until significant damage has occurred.

Some of the Risk Factors for Glaucoma are
Age of over 40, Family history of glaucoma, High intraocular pressure, Certain medical conditions, Eye injuries etc.

Regular eye check-ups are essential for early detection and management of glaucoma. If you or a loved one fall into any of these risk categories, don't delay—schedule your eye exam today!

Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital is carrying out free eye screening at Kaunda Square from Monday 9th March to Friday 13th ,2026.

You are encouraged to take time to have your eyes checked.

From 9th February to 13th February 2026,Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital with the support of Orbis Zambia our corporating partner ,is carrying out Hospital Based Training.

As Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital we are thrilled to launch our Service Delivery Charter.

This charter is our commitment to providing you with the high standards of eye care, transparency, and a positive experience every step of the way as you visit the Hospital.

Our vision is to be a center of excellence for inclusive and comprehensive eye care services as we endeavor to fulfill our Mission of providing cost effective eye health care to eliminate avoidable blindness.

The launch of the Charter was held on 10th December of 2025 in Kitwe at Moba Hotel and was graced by Kitwe District Commissioner Mr Oncemore Ng'ono as the Guest of Honor, the Provincial Health Director, Dr Charles Mwinuna among other invited guests.

This document outlines our dedication to quality patient care, clear communication, efficient services, and continuous improvement.

Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital, today the 1st of December 2025 joined the rest of the world in commemorating this year's World AIDS Day whose theme was "Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response,"

The event was held at Luyando Community grounds and was graced by Kitwe District Commissioner Mr Oncemore Ngonomo as the guest of honour, Kitwe Mayor her worship Mwayi Mpasa among other invited guests.

Let's stand together to end the stigma, support those affected, and continue to transform the AIDS response for a healthier, more equitable world.
