Today kitwe District had the honour of hosting a very successful and impactful event which was graced by the Provincial Minister, Hon. Elisha Matambo.
The event brought together members of the community, stakeholders, and staff, all united in a shared commitment to development and service to the people. The presence of the Honourable Minister added great value to the occasion and demonstrated government’s continued support towards initiatives that uplift our communities.

Funeral Announcement

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved member of staff, Lillian Banda Kalale, an Enrolled Nurse who was working in Lunsemfwa Ward. She passed away in the early hours of today.

Her death is a great loss not only to her colleagues in the ward but to the entire hospital family. She was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who served our patients with commitment and kindness.

Her contribution to the health sector will always be remembered. 💔

Management and staff extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends, and all who worked closely with her during this difficult time.

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Mununka, our beloved Pharmacy Technologist.
This loss cuts deep for all of us. In truth, it is not only a loss to the pharmacy department but to the entire institution. We have not just lost a colleague — we have lost family.

Barbara was dedicated, compassionate, and always ready to support others. She served with commitment and brought warmth to everyone she worked with. Her presence will truly be missed.

Summary of Kitwe Teaching Hospital

Kitwe Teaching Hospital is located in the City of Kitwe on the Copperbelt province. It was commissioned in 1958 as Llewlyn Hospital (named after Lord Llewelyn, one of the Governors in Northern Rhodesia). The name changed to Kitwe Central Hospital in 1964.

The Hospital is located along Kuomboka Drive at Plot No. 2831 in Parklands.

It is the third level referral hospital serving the second largest populated city in Zambia. It has 664 bed capacity and with daily patient traffic of up to 1,300. Staffing currently stands at 912. (Over 80 from last recruitment)

The hospital offers second and third level health care services to the population of Kitwe (estimated to be over 600,000). The hospital also caters for patients from North-western, Luapula and Northern provinces.
