The Importance of Team Building in Institutions

Last week, KTH organized a team-building event away from the usual work environment — an opportunity for staff to unwind, socialize, and get to know each other beyond their job titles. It was a refreshing reminder that behind every role is a person, and fostering strong human connections is key to building a healthy and productive workplace.

In today’s fast-paced work culture, it’s easy to fall into the trap of being "all work and no play." But as the old saying (with a modern twist) goes: All work without play, John became dull. Institutions that overlook the human element of collaboration risk lower morale, communication breakdowns, and reduced productivity.

Team-building activities allow colleagues to:

Build trust and camaraderie

Improve communication and collaboration

Boost morale and motivation

Discover hidden talents and strengths

Break down hierarchical barriers

KTH’s initiative was more than just a break from routine — it was an investment in people. And when people feel seen, heard, and connected, the entire institution thrives.

In the end, team building isn't just a "nice-to-have." It's a strategic approach to creating a more cohesive, creative, and resilient workforce.

Early Diagnosis Key in Fight Against Breast Cancer -Dr. Kasongo

By Phyllis S. Banda

As the world marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, the Kitwe Teaching Hospital has called on members of the public to prioritize early detection and regular screening.

In an exclusive interview with Faith Radio News, Head of Clinical Care, Dr. Joseph Kasongo, emphasized that while breast cancer is more common among women, men can also be affected, though cases are rare.

He urged both women and men to know the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and to practice regular self-breast examinations.

“The most important thing with cancer is early diagnosis. If there are any signs such as a lump, sore, or unusual discharge, people should quickly seek medical attention,” Dr. Kasongo said.

He encouraged anyone who notices suspicious changes to visit their nearest health facility for professional assessment and further investigations if needed.

Dr. Kasongo appealed to the general public to take advantage of this awareness month to learn more about breast cancer, get screened, and support others in early detection efforts.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

This month, we stand together to honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember those we've lost to breast cancer.

Early detection can save lives — so let’s talk about it, support each other, and encourage regular screenings. Whether it’s scheduling a mammogram, learning the signs, or donating to research, every action matters.

Good morning and Happy Sunday to everyone!!!!!Early detection is cardinal.

Sandvik Visit to NICU and Donation of Baby Items

Sandvik recently had the privilege of visiting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at KTH. During the visit, the team donated a variety of essential baby items to support families and newborns receiving specialized care.

The donation included newborn clothing, baby blankets, diapers, hygiene products, soft toys, and other carefully selected essentials to provide comfort and care for premature and ill infants, as well as a little ease for their families during a challenging time.

This initiative reflects Sandvik’s ongoing commitment to giving back and supporting healthcare institutions that provide life-saving care. We are deeply grateful to sandvink for this gesture, God bless you.
