Organizations like ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or AACC (American Association for Clinical Chemistry) often host events. Tips on phlebotomy:

1. Properly identify the patient and verify their order – Always confirm the patient's identity and verify the order before starting the procedure.

2. Prepare the site – Choose a suitable site for venipuncture and ensure it is clean and sterile using an antiseptic.

3. Use proper technique – Use the correct angle and depth when inserting the needle, and ensure you use a smooth, steady movement to prevent pain or discomfort.

4. Control the flow rate – Apply pressure to the puncture site and use a tourniquet to control the flow rate of the blood.

5. Label the sample accurately – Ensure that you label the sample accurately with the patient's name, date of birth, and other relevant information.

6. Dispose of sharps properly – Dispose of needles and other sharps in a designated sharps container to avoid injury or exposure to infection.

7. Provide patient comfort – Gently communicate with the patient, explain the procedure and provide them comfort while taking the sample.
