NHIMA announced the activation of the 30-day lapse rule and the mandatory use of SmartPay for all registered employers, effective 1st February 2026. Employers are encouraged to submit returns and remit contributions on time to ensure uninterrupted health coverage for employees.

With the mandatory SmartPay usage and the application of the 30-day lapse rule, both taking effect on 1st February 2026. The Authority will be hosting an interactive virtual session designed to engage employers and employees on critical compliance and operational aspects of the National Health Insurance Scheme.

The session is scheduled for Wednesday, 21st January, 2025 (Tomorrow), and will be hosted virtually via Microsoft Teams.
