IKELENGE COMMENCE REHABILITATION OF FEEDER ROADS

19.09.2025- Ikelenge Town council has commenced the rehabilitation of feeder roads in Ikelenge district as per Presidential directive.

His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema directed all local authorities in the council to rehabilitate feeder roads within their jurisdiction by allocating 3.2 million Zambian Kwacha (ZMW) to be used towards the procurement of fuel and lubricants for the said works.

Currently, the local authority intends to rehabilitate 24 kilometers feeder roads within the district with 7.5 kilometers of the said road on Chifwafwa road, 7 kilometers on Mwininyilamba road and 13.5 kilometers on Kasalumuna Road.

Works done so far include on the grading of 7.5 Kilometers on Chifwafwa on road and 7 kilometers of Mwininyilamba road. The local authority as also dumped gravel stretching 1.5 kilometers on Chifwafwa road. The local authority will soon start opening and shaping of the road on Kasalumuna road.

The Local Authority believes that this exercise will enhance the district’s road network, by ensuring smoother and more reliable routes thereby improving transportation and accessibility for local residents and farmers.

IKELENG’I CONSTITUENCY RECEIVES AMBULANCE AS MINISTER REITERATES GOVERNMENT COMMITMENT TO HEALTH AND SAFETY OF ITS PEOPLE.

17/09/2025- Today was an historical moment in the Local Government and Health sector as the nation witnessed the handover of over 100 ambulances to various constituencies in the nation, something that has never been seen before.

With the handing over of the newly acquired ambulances, it means that district such as Ikelenge will now provide timely medical assistance in emergencies by ensuring that patients receive immediate care and transported to medical facilities promptly as well as reaching patients in hard-to-reach locations.

The event that was held in Lusaka at the Lusaka Show ground was graced by the President of the Republic of Zambia through the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Hon. Gift Sialubalo.

Speaking during the handover, the Minister said that the ceremony was not just about the handing over of keys but rather governments unwavering commitment to the health and safety of its people.

The Minister added that the ambulances being handed over today, are a lifeline for many, and are, therefore, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment to help medical personnel to perform preliminary medical procedures to the patient as they are being transported.

Hon. Sialubalo directed the ministry of health to make sure that all the personnel in charge of the ambulance services are capacity built in basic life support services like emergency and first aid response.

The ambulances were acquired through the financing from the constituency development fund.
