Her Worship the Council Chairperson, the Councillors, Management and Staff of Ikelenge Town Council join the rest of the nation in mourning the demise of the 6th Republican President, H.E. Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu.

May God comfort his friends and family during this trying time.

IT IS WITH DEEP SORROW AND A HEAVY HEART THAT WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED BY HIS FAMILY, OF THE PASSING ON, OF THE SIXTH PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ZAMBIA, HIS EXCELLENCY MR. EDGAR CHAGWA LUNGU.

CDFC MONITORS VARIOUS CDF PROJECTS IN IKELENG’I CONSTITUENCY.

18/05/2025- On Friday 16th and Saturday 17th of May 2025 the Ikeleng’i Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) monitored various Constituency Development Fund projects being undertaken in the constituency.

On Friday, the committee monitored the construction sites of Kafunyi Primary School in Chanachamuhing’a Ward, Kanyanda Bridge in Jimbe Ward and Kaleni Nursing School Hostiles in Mwilombe Ward.

On Saturday, the monitoring team that was led by the CDFC Chairperson Ms. Beltina Chitundu monitored constructions sites of Muzenzi Health Post in Sakeji Ward, Kapendi Primary School in Ikelenge Central Ward, Kamukanda Bridge in Ikelenge Central Ward, Zambezi Source Primary School in Mukangala Ward and Katooka Primary School in Lwakela Ward.

And speaking after monitoring the project, CDFC Chairperson Ms. Beltina Chitundu urged the contractors undertaking the monitored projects to expedite their works so that the projects can be handed over to the communities.

She expressed happiness on the overall quality of works exhibited in the projects.

Also, part of the monitoring team was His Royal Highness Chief Nyakaseya. Others included members of the CDFC, the District Commissioner and respective Ward Councilors.

IKELENGE CELEBRATES LABOUR DAY

Today, Ikelenge Town Council joined the rest of the nation in commemorating International Labour Day.

We wish to congratulations to all the dedicated workers who continue to serve with excellence, commitment, and integrity.

The celebration were held under the theme, “Shaping Zambia’s Future of Work Through Home-Grown Solutions for Inclusive Economic Growth,”

The event was graced by the Minister of Health, Dr. Elijah Muchima.

MOH HANDS OVER AMBULANCE TO IKELENGE MINI-HOSPITAL

01.04.2024- On Monday 31st March, 2025 Government through the Ministry of Health handed over a state-of-the-art ambulance to Ikelenge mini-hospital.

Officiating at the handover on behalf of the Minister of Health, Provincial Health Director Dr. Luckson Chidikita said government recognizes the importance of all its citizens being healthy.

Dr. Chidikita mentioned that health comes with great expenses it was against that background that that government was committed to provide quality health services and not just by ensuring that health facilities countries were stocked with drugs but also that transportation of patients adding that He stressed that the ambulance being handed over has a life serving equipment inside.

Speaking at the event Council Chairperson Councillor Joe Chizuza expressed gratitude to Government on behalf of the people of district Ikelenge district by emphasizing the fact that despite the geographical location of the district, government has continued remembering the district in its developmental agenda as evidenced by the ambulance being given.

The District Commissioner Mr. Andrew Mpyakula said what had just happened was a clear testimony of the President and government love for the people of Ikelenge as such an equipment has never been seen before in the district.

And the Council Secretary Mr. Himbala Kaumba promised government that the new ambulance will be protected and well taken care of by tasking the District Health Director to ensure that the ambulance is protected from any physical and technical damage that may come due to negligence and that the service schedule must be followed religiously.

PROGRESS STATUS ON CDF PROJECTS

The project is 1x3 Classroom block at Zambezi Source Primary School in Mukangala Ward of Ikelenge District.

Works remaining include glazing, paint works, metal works and power installation (Solar).

The classroom block comprises of 3 classrooms, 2 offices, 3 storerooms and a strong room.

The project is 72% complete and its being funded through the 2024 Constituency Development Fund.
