Arise and Soar! 🌟 Youth Taking Charge of Their Future

Young people from across the country came together in an energetic and inspiring celebration as AHF youth representatives from various provinces commemorated Youth Day under the powerful theme “Arise and Soar!”

The commemoration brought together vibrant young leaders who filled the day with enthusiasm, creativity, and purpose. Through interactive discussions, peer engagement, and youth-led activities, the young people created a lively platform to celebrate their potential while reflecting on the important role they play in shaping healthier communities.

This year’s theme, “Arise and Soar!”, called on young people to rise above the challenges they face, embrace their voice, and step into leadership roles within their communities. It encouraged them to pursue healthy, informed, and productive lifestyles while becoming champions of positive change among their peers.

Throughout the event, participants shared ideas on issues affecting young people today — from strengthening peer support networks to promoting health-seeking behaviors and reducing stigma. The gathering also highlighted the importance of empowering youth with knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to lead community-driven solutions.

The atmosphere was nothing short of electric as young people celebrated their resilience, ambition, and collective power. With renewed motivation, they left the commemoration inspired to take action, uplift one another, and continue soaring toward a future filled with opportunity, leadership, and impact.

✨ When young people rise, communities soar.

🌍 The rules for the next pandemic response are being negotiated right now.

The WHO Pandemic Agreement was adopted in 2025—but it cannot move forward until the Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) Annex is finalized.

Through our campaign EU: Stop Blocking Health Equity, we are calling on European leaders to support binding equity provisions so that vaccines, diagnostics, and treatments are shared fairly in future global health emergencies.

What is decided now will shape pandemic response for a generation.

The Kasanda Clinic Youth Friendly Space, through the Young People’s Program (YPP), took HIV prevention services closer to the community with a powerful outreach dialogue targeting adolescents in the Kasanda catchment area.

Led by Mr. Richard Silwamba, YPP Focal Point Person, the initiative created a safe and engaging space where young people could openly discuss their health, ask questions, and access essential services.

The outreach delivered life changing information on Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC), Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP), and STI prevention — empowering adolescents with knowledge to make informed and responsible decisions about their health.

This outreach not only strengthened access to youth friendly HIV prevention services but also reinforced the importance of early testing, prevention, and positive health-seeking behavior within the community. When we equip young people with the right information and services, we build healthier futures.

This week, our Country Program Manager (CPM) connected with teams across the southern and northern parts of Lusaka, reinforcing a culture of growth, ownership, and teamwork.

At the heart of every engagement was one powerful reminder: each and every one of us — regardless of title or role — is an ambassador of the AHF brand. How we serve, how we communicate, and how we carry ourselves must consistently reflect who we are as an organization.

The sessions were not just about direction, they were about dialogue. Staff actively participated in an open and engaging Q&A, sharing ideas, asking questions, and aligning around our bold vision of leading boldly, growing intentionally, and being seen.

A special highlight from the northern visit was Chifundo Clinic, proudly recognized as a 3rd place finisher in the retention challenge among all AHF-supported facilities, a testament to dedication, consistency, and teamwork.

Here’s to building stronger teams, owning our impact, and representing the brand with pride — everywhere we serve.

The Southern Region marked International Condom Day in style at Makalanguzu Market in Choma, with Ms. Rose Masaku, Provincial AIDS Coordinating Advisor, alongside community leaders, AHF teams, volunteers, and young champions from Shampande Urban Clinic leading the charge in the fight against HIV.

From HIV testing and STI screening to myth-busting sessions and powerful conversations on consistent and correct condom use, the outreach delivered life-saving information directly to the community. Awareness on VMMC and cervical cancer prevention was amplified — and thousands of free condoms were distributed to truck drivers, traders, and local residents.

Meanwhile, Mazabuka, Livingstone, and Monze joined the movement through strong partnerships with the Ministry of Health, JICA, District Health Offices, local councils, and civil society — reaching Nakambala Market and surrounding areas with comprehensive HIV prevention services.

The response? Overwhelmingly positive.
The impact? Far-reaching.
The message? Protection is power — Just Use It!
