Chongwe District Hospital this afternoon received a significant boost following a generous donation from IK Charitable Trust, which included assorted foodstuffs, cabinets, blankets and other essential furniture.
The donation is expected to improve patient welfare and enhance the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare services to the people of Chongwe District.
In addition to the material support, IK Charitable Trust pledged to undertake key infrastructure developments at the hospital.
These include the renovation of the hospital incinerator, the installation of a water stand and water tank and the construction of new ablution blocks.
These interventions are aimed at strengthening sanitation, improving water supply and ensuring a safer and more conducive environment for both patients and healthcare workers.
The handover ceremony was graced by Chongwe District Commissioner Dr Evans Lupiya, who called for concerted efforts among government, the private sector and cooperating partners to drive sustainable development in the district.
Meanwhile,IK Charitable Trust Administrative officer Dr. Bilal Mansuri pledged the Trust's continued support in order to help drive development in the district.
The IK Charitable Trust was led by its Secretary, Mr Shoyeb Khanat, while the Ministry of Health was represented by Acting Director of Health Services Dr. Morton Zuze. Several other senior government and health officials were also in attendance.
