WORLD Health Organisation in Zambia has taken interest in the HIV/AIDS local treatment drug called ‘Sondashi Formula’.

Sondashi Formula is a local drug developed by Ludwig Sondashi, and is believed to have the potential to cure HIV/AIDS.

Recently, Vice-President Mutale Nalumango said Sondashi Formula has progressed to advanced trial stages and emphasised Zambia’s passion for developing its own solutions.

WHO country representative Clement Lasuba said he will follow up on the drug to get more information.

He said when there is discovery of a new drug, a process of certification has to be undertaken.

“You know, I’m six months here in Zambia and I haven’t heard of that drug. But normally, there is a process. If there is a new drug, it goes through a process of certification, which is not a short one. But I could follow it up to get more information on it,” he said

AU AGENCY ACCEPTS ZAMBIA'S SONDASHI FORMULA AS REPLACEMENT FOR ARVs
The Head of Africa Union Agency NEPAD has told the Zambian government that the Sondashi Formula is the solution for Africa in the treatment of HIV/AIDS.

"Sondashi Formula, proving to be good solution for Africa…”

These were the exact words from African Union Development Agency AUDA-NEPAD Chief Executive Officer Mme Nardos Bekele-Thomas who paid a courtesy call on the Zambian Vice president W K Nalumango on 10th April 2025.

But unfortunately all successive Zambian governments have been reluctant in admitting the Sondashi formula better known as SF2000 formally despite indications that it is an effective remedy in the HIV/AIDS treatment.

The herbal medicine was invented by retired politician and former Minister Dr Ludwig Sondashi in 2000.

Efforts by Dr. Sondashi to have successful governments formally admit the medicine in public health facilities has yielded no progress.

Dr Sondashi a lawyer by profession says the SF2000 cures the virus and is being used by a number of people both locally and beyond Zambia.

Dr Sondashi says it’s frustrating that some Government officials who even uses the SF2000 have made no efforts to have the medicine in the health facilities so it can help many people.

The Head of AUDA-NEPAD this week was in Zambia and met the Vice president Mutale Nalumango.

According to the Vice president the AUDA-NEPAD told her that Sondashi formula was the solution for Africa following the Donald J. Trump policy change that has affected the supply of ARVS.

“Sondashi Formula, proving to be good solution for Africa…” These were the exact words from African Union Development Agency AUDA-NEPAD Chief Executive Officer Mme Nardos Bekele-Thomas who paid a courtesy call on our office today (10th April, 2025)” Vice president Nalumango said.

Ms Nalumango says the AUDA-NEPAD Chief has informed the Zambian government of their plan to scale up the Sondashi formula.
