Engaged in emergency health, relief, distribution, disaster management, mitigation and Community development programs in Zambia. Mobile Emergency Rescue Team has taken a holistic approach towards the provision of health services. To also Supplement Government efforts in disaster management, mitigation and health programs
in Zambia. Disasters are extreme events which results in widespread social disruption trauma, property damage and loss of life, these include floods, accidents etc. In Zambia a number of natural and man made hazards which resulted in disaster. Even more devastating is the human suffering and dislocation which extends long after the disaster event has occurred. As an auxiliary to the emergency health services, Mobile Emergency Rescue Team (M.E.R.T) and its trained Staff and volunteers support and assist the emergency services whenever and wherever there is a need. First aid has always been a vital part of an effective emergency response and disaster preparedness strategy for the general population. The establishment of mechanisms for disaster preparedness and mitigation could reduce the loss of life, physical and economic damage and shorten the recovery period following a disaster. The Government alone can not manage to respond to disaster with a huge magnitude hence the need for us stake-holders to be better equipped. The help of co-operating partners can not be over emphasized. Our Country Zambia when faced with disaster it has been hard pressed to find financial and other resources needed to rehabilitate social and economic infrastructure and restore full economic activity, therefore our appeal for Funding, support or assistance. To have a disaster preparedness organization to mobilize and distribute the supply and delivery of disaster relief to the affected areas, ambulance rescue and first aid post. While this initiative is being pursued some organizations, in particular those involved in Emergency Rescue and disaster management have no equipment poor communication facilities, But Mobile Emergency Rescue Team wants to promote and establish sustainable disaster response and Ambulance rescue capabilities among cities in our Country Zambia, so that in case of any major disaster we will be able to respond , rescue and save life and this can only be done through support from all stake holder and co-operating partners.
