A NEW trend called ‘Bluetooth’ has emerged among drug users where addicts are allegedly drawing blood containing traces of drugs from one another using a syringe and needle, sparking concerns among stakeholders that the high risk behaviour can fuel the spread of HIV and AIDS potentially reversing the gains scored in the fight.

This happens when users, mostly youth, have the urge to get high but do not have enough money.

The revelations came to light during a peer-to-peer sensitisation programme on the risk of contraction of HIV conducted by the HIV Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) and Divisive Minds Organisation held in Kabwe recently.
