🩺 Hypertension Fact #3 – Salt Might Be Tasty, But It’s Not Heart-Friendly

📌 Did you know?
Too much salt is one of the biggest hidden causes of high blood pressure.
And most of it doesn’t come from the salt shaker as it is already in packaged or processed foods!

đź“– What does this mean?

Your body needs only a small amount of sodium to function. But when you eat too much from things like salty snacks, canned foods, instant noodles, and even bread, it increases blood pressure by retaining water and stressing your heart.

âś… What should you do?
• Limit salty foods. Avoid adding extra salt to your plate.
• Read labels. Watch for “sodium” in packaged items.
• Choose fresh. Eat more fresh fruits, vegetables, and home-cooked meals.

📊 Zambia & Africa Stats
• The average Zambian consumes 2–3 times the WHO-recommended daily limit of salt (5g/day).
• A 2023 WHO Africa report links excess salt intake to rising hypertension rates across the region.

💬 It’s not just the salt you see but the salt you don’t notice.
Your heart deserves betterđź«€

🩺 Hypertension Fact #2 – You Can Have High BP and Still Feel Fine

📌 Did you know?
Most people with high blood pressure don’t feel sick.
You could have dangerously high numbers and still go about your day without a single symptom.

đź“– What does this mean?
No headaches? No dizziness? Doesn’t mean your blood pressure is normal.
High BP doesn’t always give warning signs — but it quietly damages your heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and brain.

âś… What should you do?
• Get your BP checked at least once every 6 months.
• Encourage your friends and family to do the same.
• If you have a family history of hypertension, check it more often and earlier.

📊 Zambia & Africa Stats
• More than 40% of hypertensive adults in Africa are unaware of their condition.
• In Zambia, many people are diagnosed late, often after complications like stroke or kidney failure.

💬 Check before it’s too late. You don’t have to feel sick to be at risk.
Be proactive, not reactive.

THIS WEEK AT LASO DIGITAL HEALTH: Let’s Talk about Hypertension

Hypertension Fact #1 – The Silent Killer

Did you know?

Hypertension is called the “silent killer” because most people with high blood pressure don’t feel sick or show symptoms until it leads to something serious like a heart attack, stroke, or kidney failure.🤯
What does this mean?

You can feel perfectly fine but still have dangerously high blood pressure. That’s why it’s often discovered too late after damage has already been done.

âś… What should you do?

• Check your BP regularly even if you feel healthy

• Know your numbers:

• Normal:
