Good morning last we friday we had a successful session with a beautiful topic.
Low self-esteem refers to a negative perception of oneself, where a person feels unworthy, incapable, or inadequate. It affects how individuals think, feel, and behave, often leading to:

Signs of Low Self-Esteem:

Constant self-criticism

Difficulty accepting compliments

Feeling undeserving of love or success

Comparing oneself negatively to others

Avoiding challenges or opportunities due to fear of failure

Over-apologizing or people-pleasing

Common Causes:

Childhood criticism or neglect

Bullying or rejection

Trauma or abuse

Unrealistic societal or cultural standards

Academic or work-related failures

Effects of Low Self-Esteem:

Anxiety or depression

Relationship problems

Poor academic or job performance

Isolation or social withdrawal

Substance abuse (in some cases)

How to Improve Self-Esteem:

Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself, especially when you make mistakes.

Challenge negative thoughts: Replace “I can’t” with “I’m learning.”

Set realistic goals: Achieve small wins to build confidence.

Surround yourself with support: Be with people who uplift and respect you.

Seek professional help: Therapy or counseling can offer deep healing and support

Kabwata Youth Friendly Space was honored to host an impactful training session facilitated by Free Press Initiative (FPI) in collaboration with Interlink Academy.

The training covered vital topics such as:

✓Digital Security and its importance in today’s digital age

✓How to Create Strong Passwords to protect personal data

✓Critical Thinking and why it's a key skill for informed decision-making

Our Youth participants gained valuable knowledge and skills that will not only help them stay safe online but also empower them to think critically and engage responsibly in digital spaces.

Big thanks to FPI and Interlink Academy for investing in our youth and equipping them for a smarter, safer digital future!

We were honored to be joined by Girl Up, who led an engaging and empowering session focused on Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Contraceptives, Menstrual Health & Hygiene, and Consent.

“Girls are powerful. When they are educated, healthy, safe, and counted, they transform their communities.”

This session was a vital step toward equipping young girls and Young Men with the knowledge and confidence to take charge of their health and well-being.

Together, we’re uniting girls and boys to change the world!
