Today, colleagues, friends and loved ones gather to lay to rest Major General (Dr) Chishimba Lumbwe (Rtd), a Medical Doctor of great renown, whose career path spanned several fields and who greatly impacted many lives 🤝

Here at International Hospital of Zambia, many remember Dr. Lumbwe as a distinguished physician who served Fairview Hospital as a consultant physician for several years

We therefore join in extending our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Lumbwe.

His time with us remains a valued part of our story, and his contribution to patient care will always be remembered.

Since commencing his work as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of International Hospital of Zambia a little over a month ago, Dr. Erwei Zhang has made it his mission to learn exactly how each unit of the hospital operates!
From the Laboratory, Emergency unit, Physiotherapy, Stores, Out Patient Department and more, Dr. Zhang has probed, learnt and made useful suggestions on how IHZ can improve as a whole!
His actions certainly underscore that each unit is key to the overall success of an organization!

A 36-year-old man arrived at our Emergency Department after more than four hours of ongoing pain from a recurrent shoulder dislocation.

He had already visited several facilities earlier in the day, where attempts to reduce the dislocation had not been successful. By the time he reached us, he was in significant discomfort and looking for relief.

After assessment, our orthopedic specialist, Wang Zhibin, performed a gentle reduction using a controlled, step-by-step technique. The procedure was completed in a single attempt, and the patient experienced immediate relief, with movement restored shortly after.

Moments like these are a reminder of how distressing common injuries can be—and how important timely, skilled care is in easing both pain and anxiety. 🤝 🏥
