Why You Shouldn’t Ignore a Small Gallstone

Gallstones are more common than many people realize, especially in Zambia where diets high in oil, low fiber intake, and busy lifestyles can contribute to their formation.

At first, gallstones may cause no symptoms. However, once an attack occurs, they can lead to sudden abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

In some cases, a small stone can block the bile duct, leading to serious complications such as inflammation of the gallbladder, infection of the bile ducts, or even pancreatitis. Because the bile duct and pancreatic duct are closely connected, even a tiny stone can trigger significant health problems.

Early evaluation and timely treatment are always safer than enduring recurring pain or waiting for complications to arise.
