The Medical Officer In-Charge from Mambilima Mission Hospital today paid a compassionate visit to their patient who recently delivered triplets at Mansa General Hospital.

We are pleased to report that both the mother and her three babies are doing well. They remain under close medical observation at the hospital as they continue to recover and gain strength.

Ministry of Health – Luapula Province
Luapula Expo 2026 | Invest in Health
Good morning/afternoon, and thank you for visiting the Ministry of Health stand at the Luapula Expo 2026.
Our message this year is clear: Invest in Health.
At the Ministry of Health, we recognize that health is not just a social service, but a key enabler of economic development. A healthy population drives productivity, strengthens communities, and unlocks the full potential of our province.
We are committed to maximizing our health workforce to ensure that quality services reach every community. By strengthening human resources for health, we improve service delivery, reduce waiting times, and increase access to care across Luapula Province.
Equally important is the use of accurate health data. By understanding the disease burden in our province — from malaria and maternal health challenges to non-communicable diseases — we are able to design the right preventive measures and target interventions where they are needed most.
Our focus is shifting strongly toward prevention:
• Early screening and diagnosis
• Community health education
• Immunization and disease control
• Nutrition and sanitation interventions
Prevention saves lives, reduces healthcare costs, and protects households from financial strain.
We firmly believe that health is an investment enabler. When people are healthy:
• Workers are more productive
• Children learn better in school
• Businesses grow and attract investment
• Communities become more resilient
This is why investing in health is not a cost — it is a driver of economic growth and sustainable development.
The Ministry of Health in Luapula Province is ready to partner with government, private sector, NGOs, and development partners to expand access, improve quality, and build a stronger health system.
We invite you to visit our stand, engage with our team, and explore how we can work together.
Let’s invest in health and build a healthier, more prosperous Zambia — starting right here in Luapula.

WORLD HAEMOPHILIA DAY: DO NOT BE LEFT OUT – MANSA GENERAL HOSPITAL HAS YOUR BACK 😊👍🏼

On 17th April 2026, Mansa General Hospital (MGH) joins the global community in commemorating World Haemophilia Day under the theme:
“Diagnosis: First Step to Care.”

WHAT IS HAEMOPHILIA?
Haemophilia is a congenital condition (present from birth) in which the blood does not clot properly due to a deficiency of specific proteins known as clotting factors.
A deficiency of Factor VIII is called Haemophilia A
A deficiency of Factor IX is called Haemophilia B

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Haemophilia mainly affects males. However, some females may experience mild symptoms or be carriers. It is important to consult a healthcare provider for proper evaluation and guidance.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS
The main symptom is bleeding, which may occur spontaneously or after minor injury. Common signs include:
Bleeding into joints (especially knees) in infants learning to crawl (from around 6 months)
Prolonged bleeding after procedures such as medical male circumcision
Bleeding under the skin (bruising), especially in muscles (thighs, arms, back)
Bleeding in the eyes or, in rare cases, the brain
Important: People with haemophilia can bleed even without obvious injury.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU SUSPECT HAEMOPHILIA
Visit Mansa General Hospital immediately for assessment, diagnosis, and appropriate care. Early diagnosis can prevent complications.
TREATMENT AND CARE
Patients receive regular factor replacement therapy (Factor VIII or IX)
In case of bleeding, urgent hospital care is required
Delayed or untreated bleeding can lead to disability or even death
TAKE-HOME MESSAGE
Encourage anyone with unexplained or prolonged bleeding to seek medical attention.

Remember:
“Diagnosis is the First Step to Care.”
With early diagnosis and proper treatment, people living with haemophilia can lead near-normal, healthy lives.

AVAILABLE SERVICES
A comprehensive haemophilia care package is available at Mansa General Hospital (MGH).
