Foundation for Achieving Rural Incomes and Sustainable Environment (FARISE)
INTRODUCTION
FARISE is a NON profit making and community based organization managed by its board of Directors situated in Ibenga / Mpongwe district on the Copperbelt province of Zambia. The project on its inception in the year 2013 was designed to direct people to Jesus through their felt needs (Poverty) by restoring their relationship with GOD and empowering farming groups in order to improve their livelihood and solve deforestation and land degradation problems, through developing natural resource management techniques to address environmental problems.
The project was changed from group to an individual approach in form of training which has proven more effective and achieving its intended objectives. FARISE’s highest priority is based on empowering and giving back responsibility to the student farmers to transform their own pieces of land by making them knowledgeable and building their levels of understanding on Organic methods of farming through the 10% theory lessons only at the Centre and 90% practical modeling both at the centre and at their own fields, allowing them more time of implementation whilst restoring the Four (4) broken relationships (Man with GOD, Man with Himself, Man with his Neighbor and Man with creation). This has been achievable through constant monitoring and training in GOD’s way of farming.
Farming areas in the local community have relied on artificial sources of pest/ disease control, fertilizations and w**d control methods. Now to meet the environmental goals , FARISE through its Organic training has introduced a need to build up soil fertility and better yields by more traditional methods with a principal “ use what is at hand” such as the use of:
 Composted materials, legumes/ other green manure.
 Crop rotation / inter cropping
 The natural means of pest and disease control.
 W**d control
 Agro forestry
 Livestock manure
 Mulch
 Zero or minimum tillage
 Water harvesting and management
Moreover, the maintenance of biological activities is promoting more biodiversity to be achieved on the demonstration plots enabling the hard “pan” or compacted layer on the surface of the soil be broken to improve the crop root pe*******on, soil temperature regulation and moisture contents retention through constant mulching between field crops and the use of inter-cropping with fertilizer trees (through agro-forestry) while maintaining Discipleship and Missionary goals. Curiosities have been raised among the people such that interested members are increasing to join Farise activities.

In addition to the above FARISE is involved in offering services or trainings in the following areas.
• Discipleship/ Mission strategies
• Thatching and decorations
• Tourism (Tour Guiding, Translation / Interpretation in French, Portuguese and some African Languages)
